Im planning on applying to the top 20 schools in the US with Univ. of chicago my first choice (applying early action). Based on your personal experience or general knowledge do i stand a chance at any of these schools (specifically U of Chicago)?

essays:
talking about my RYLA experience and how i changed personally and how i became a more confident person; leadership skills

for my common app essay im talking about my struggles being a Palestinian american with emphasis on how that integrates into my daily life (starting an MSA and doing a senior project where i will teach an AP class on the conflict through art, culture, film, etc).

Good chance at UChicago, if you write great essays. Look, this chance thread is pointless… If you apply to all the Top 20 schools, with your stats, you’ll get into at least 5 of them… Stop worrying(: Also, you seem like you might like the following Top 20 schools more than the others: Rice, JHU, Emory, Vanderbilt, and Cornell.

ACT is a little weak. The essays will be pretty important…I believe they like quirky, intellectual people. As long as you pull those off well, you should have a shot. It’s getting more and more competitive each year though.

A lot of your EC’s seem to be “fluff,” but you have some strong ones in there, so you should emphasize those. I think your engineering EC could be interesting if it is a big role (also, I recommend taking the Math 2 Subject test.)
