I really really really want to go to the University of Chicago. I'm definitely applying ea, but I want to know what my chances are? GPA Weighted: 4.0 SAT 2000, internship last summer at courthouse, work as a tutor, lots of extracurriculars (latin american student association, nhs, debate, soccer, and track), volunteer (crosslink international, teen network board, and with autistic kids). What are my chances?? Oh and I take all IB classes, am a hispanic girl, and ranked in top 1% of my class.

Your pluses are IB, Hispanic, GPA (hard to tell though because it’s weighted), and ECs.

If your SAT was about 100 or 200 points higher, you would have a fantastic shot. Have you looked at the ACT?

You have an excellent chance. Your ECs are just a little bland, but that courthouse internship is pretty cool, UChicago likes the political types. That SAT is a bit low though, there’s a November 1st date and a December 3rd date left, I don’t know if you’ll have a chance to take it again before EA is due. Either way, URM status will be a big plus and i honestly can’t see you not getting in, especially EA.

Lot’s of luck. Care to chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1215821-chance-long-shot-top-schools.html

@ Mrspiffy
To have another SAT for EA, ramlil needs to take it this Sat.

I’d say you have an okay chance. Your SAT is a bit low and your EC’s aren’t fantastic, but being an IB candidate and hispanic really helps.

Yep, I figured that was the case. I still think she’d be a solid shot applying EA now and just as solid of a shot applying RD with a higher test score. It’s just a matter of personal preference for her I suppose.

@ mrspiffy, yeh I know what you mean. Just wanted to clarify
Seeing as I’m taking it myself this sat. too…:p
