3.6 GPA (upward trend -> approx 3.2 freshman, 3.5 sophomore, 4.1 junior) I know, it sucks
32 ACT (34 english, 33 science, 32 reading, 27 math) retaking in December, will most likely send application before
1920 old SAT (670 math, 650 writing, 600 reading)
1350 new SAT (720 english, 630 math) retaking in December, will most likely send application before
5 APs, rest honors except math. My school doesn’t allow APs until junior year, or else I would have taken more

Out of state (NJ)
I know it’s a reach, but I think I have a decent shot at Stamps. If it makes a difference. I visited and got to meet with some admissions counselors and have my portfolio reviewed at Stamps, and they seemed to like me a lot. What do you guys think of my chances?
Stamps, because it’s art…is a whole different animal with admissions at UMich.
About 50% of your admissions decision will be what the department thinks of the art in your portfolio. Make it count! it is excellent that you have visited, and that you’ve gotten positive feedback on your art. That very strongly suggests good chances.
Stamps isn’t as academically competitive.
Students admitted to Stamps have an average GPA of 3.7, and an average ACT of 29. Don’t forget, these are averages, not minimums.
If your portfolio is strong and your test scores are above average, I think your chances for Stamps is good.
LSA is a bit of a reach with that weighted gpa out of state, but your ACT is solid for LSA.
Stamps is ranked #20 in fine arts, so I would not call it ‘poor’ at all. It is not yet at the level of other Michigan programs which are mostly top 10. The OP’s portfolio will speak for itself and will be the deciding factor. Good luck!
I don’t know much about the Stamps program but getting into UMich is awesome so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Your stats look great - that upward trend is huge. Stay positive and keep us posted what you find out!
If you look at the user with the negative comment…his/her entire posting history is making derogatory posts about STAMPS. No information given as to why they hold the view they do…just lots of generic negativity. Could be as simple as a rejected student saying sour grapes? Who knows? Would be more helpful if specific reasons were given, wouldn’t it?
