Please tell me about my chances entering the CS in UofT.
U of T requires your Hui Kao and Gao Kao scores, not ACT or SAT. I have no idea what the required scores are for the Hui Kao and Gao Kao.
They accept the ACT score for US high school students and expect at least a 26 in each section. Your reading score is a little low. I would consider not submitting the ACT score. CS is more competitive than most programs. They do not look at a resume or extracurriculars, only scores. So while your AMC and IMC scores are impressive, they won’t help you get into U of T. Your AP and SAT2 scores will help.
Thank you, my Hui Kao scores are A for all subjects, and I am in an international division of a chinese high school so we did not study for Gao Kao and all of us would not take it. Students who accepted by U of T in 2017 and 2016 have similar circumstances with me (some of them have lower act) but I am not sure about my chances for entering CS. Additionally, I am sure that act/sat scores could replace GaoKao for students like me.
Furthermore, Chinese high school are focused on Gao Kao, but their international division will not prepared for Gaokao,
they will prepare for toefl, Huikao, act/sat instead.
U of T also stated that “Successful applicants have presented scores of at least 600 (Reasoning) and 640 (Redesigned) in each SAT component and at least 26 in the ACT with a score of at least 8 in Writing. Some programs require higher scores.” So I think there is no requirement for each section in ACT
