Chance Me University of Washington

Hey, I’m currently a junior in high school in Alabama (apparently UW has no freshmen from my state idk if that’s a plus or not) and I’m absolutely in love with UW.

I have a 3.87 GPA(Unweighted)
I currently have a 27 on my ACT but I’ve only taken it once. (Eng-27 Reading-28 Science-27 Math-25) I’m pretty confident I can end up with a 30.

I’ve taken AP Bio, AP Eng Lang, and will be taking AP Chem, AP Calculus AB, AP Eng Lit, and AP Computer Science, as these are the only AP classes my school offers.

My EC is my weakest point, however.
I’m in the Honor’s Society, a part of the Math Club, and as of my junior year a member of FBLA and the debate team (we didn’t get a debate team until this year). Next year I will almost definitely be captain of my debate team. That’s literally all I have as far as EC though so that really sucks.

I want to major in Microbiology, what do you guys think my chances are?

Being that there are no Alabama state students this will definitely give you a boost! UW admissions are always looking to diversify the campus and having people from all places attend. But since you are a out of state student you have to be impeccable bc they don’t admit many out of state students. Microbiology is very competitive ( all science is) Seattle schools emphasized science and math in hs, so a lot of people are trying to get in. You act is low aim for 30 or even better 32. If you decide to take the the sat I would aim for 1300 or above since you are out of state. Your gpa is very good bc the average unweighted gpa at UW is 3.75. And your schedule is rigorous, admissions will like that. Honestly I don’t think your EC are that bad, there kind of basic and ordinary but you have them which is good. Uw is big on community service so rack up hours! That is very important of you go in with zero that could look badly. Aim for above 40. Also it seems like you could need a hook. Your app doesn’t stand out much. I wish you the best of luck!

I’m from Alabama too and also want to go to UW! Maybe we’re clones.
