So I am a high school senior, and I am just curious on my chances of getting into these colleges : UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, USC, Cal Poly SLO, OSU, U of Michigan Ann Arbor, Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Johns Hopkins. I know a lot of these are difficult so any input would be appreciated. I have already been accepted into SDSU as a safety school. I am a California student, very low-income and first generation college student. Hoping for a bio major.
W GPA- 4.75 UW 3.96 (two fluke Bs which are addressed in my essays)
UC capped GPA- 4.25
SAT- 1350 (I know its very bad but I could only afford one shot at it)
AP Tests- 4 on AP World, 4 on AP Language, 5 on APUSH, 2 on AP Bio ( I could not take the class as I had to work to help my family, but I tried to take it anyways and nearly passed-also addressed in essays)
Senior Year courses: AP Literature, AP Government, AP Econ, AP Calculus AB&BC, AP Chemistry.
Class Rank- 6/538
Honors and Awards- Principals Honor Roll all four years, Honor Guard junior year (top 12 of junior class are recognized at senior graduation)
Extracurriculars-Ran track sophomore year, played JV and V soccer junior ad senior year as well as club soccer. Worked junior and senior year to support family, volunteered for approximately 100 hours. Founded a club at my school as well.
Letters of recommendation- Counselor letter of rec is decent, but I have two amazing letters from my teachers.
Essays- I think my essays are very well-written, I discuss my motivation and drive for success as well as hoping to escape the lifestyle my parents live and repay them for all they have done for me.
I believe I have a good chance at getting into most schools I am applying to, but the Ivys are definitely going to be difficult, I know I probably won’t get into any of them.
I’ve been very nervous and feel like I won’t get in anywhere so any opinion would be appreciated.
I can supply more information if needed. Thank you.
