chance me up

I'm an first generation African-American Male.
I haven't worked to my potential in school, yielding my 3.0 gpa. I've taken the SAT I's once, 610-CR 580-M 600-Writing. I got a 600 on the US history SATII, and I've taken 6 AP Courses. ON top of that alot of honors courses, giving me a tough schedule. My school is ranked number 1 by Newsweek as the best public school in Connecticut(does that mean much?).What are my chances at Lehigh with great reccs/essays?

I’d guess so-so to pretty fair. Your heritage may help, depending upon the diversity needs of the U, which are nearly always great. That should play to your advantage. You’re right … Boys State can be a meaningful, widely recognized activity. It would definitely help if you were applying to the Coast Guard or Merchant Marine academies. No clue how Lehigh values. I’d not rule out admission with the great recs. Unfortunately, aside from the one long essay, not much room to shine on those. Still, I’d keep the faith, and have reasonable plan B, C. I’d make sure to visit, if you possibly can.

I also won magna cum laude on the national latin exam twice. I speak 5 languages. and I was band captain this year

Your chances just improved, imo. Your language ability is impressive! Congratulations, nice going, good luck! You may want to be prepared to offer insight as to why you’ve failed to work up to your potential, as you noted. While you’re not alone, this can be an issue.
