The two main factors that will hurt your chances are

1)Nothing too remarkable for your ECs.
2)As much as it is regrettable, your Asian racial background. I know of too many asians with perfect grades and SAT scores, but nothing truly eye-popping on the apps, get turned down by Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and the like.

MIT: Low Reach (I give you 25% chance)
Cal Tech:Low Reach
Brown: Low Reach
Dartmouth: Reach (10% chance or less)
Harvard: Reach
Cornell: Match (50+%)
Columbia: Match
UC Berkeley: Match
USC: Match/Safety (75%+)
UCLA: Match
Rice: Match
Carnegie Mellon: Match

Yeah I have to agree with you. Thanks for the advice :)

Well my chances be lower at Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon since I am applying for EECS and SCS, respectively. Those two and Stanford are my top choices but I am probably not getting in Stanford.

I just noticed how bad my grammar was on the last post haha. Any more advice/criticism?

Bump, chance me please someone.

MIT: High reach
Cal Tech: Reach
Brown: Reach
Dartmouth:High Match (Low reach)
Harvard: High Reach
Cornell: Low reach
Columbia: Reach
UC Berkeley: Match
USC: Match/Safety (75%+)
UCLA: high match
Rice: reach
Carnegie Mellon: low reach/ high match

The reason i see you not getting into most of the schools listed above is your sub-par test scores, non-outstanding ECs(all this respective to the “Asian Crew” )

Okay thanks for the input :D

Bump anyone else?

Almost no one is a match for prestigous schools like Stanford Harvard Brown and Columbia. You really need to stand out and sell yourself in your essays. It’s hard for me to call your ACT sub-par (I mean three points from perfect is amazing) but it is true that the demographic you will be compared against has abnormally high ACT scores. If you don’t apply, however, you have a 0% chance of acceptance, so give it a shot, write amazing essays and really try to look unique, and have no regrets. Good Luck!

Chance me back?

Honestly, the whole tennis thing means A LOT more than you think it does. I knew a kid who was, like you, 1st singles on varsity for all four years. Other than that, he really had nothing riding for him. He had around a 3.5 GPA (which is like 400/800 at our school), a low sat score, almost no APs, etc. He ended up getting into UChicago. So I think your chances are probably higher (around 35%) for the more prominent colleges. I will, however, admit that your test scores are somewhat sub-par for the colleges you’re applying to. ~Chance me back please

@brandonc was he recruited for UChicago? I’ll chance you guys back in a bit :)

I actually don’t know I don’t think he was, just accepted. But he was realllllly good, I think he had a record for like 106ish games won in a row

MIT, Harvard - High reach
Caltech, Brown, Dartmouth, Columbia - Reach
Cornell, Rice - High match, low reach
UC Berkeley, UCLA - Match
Carnegie mellon - Match

please chance me back?

Thanks emotionprelude! Bump!

Bump 10 char

Bump anyone?

MIT: High Reach
Cal Tech:High Reach
Brown: Reach
Dartmouth: Reach
Harvard: Reach
Cornell: Reach ( if engineering) / Low reach otherwise
Columbia: Reach
UC Berkeley: Reach(EECS is highly competitive and doesn’t superscore)
USC: High Match
UCLA: High Match
Rice: Low Reach
Carnegie Mellon: Low Reach/Reach ( very selective program)

What are your safeties?

Allegheny, Hofstra, Drexel, Fordham, and Union College. Those five I got a fee waiver, and I can play for their tennis programs. Thanks for chancing!

Am I pretty much in at my safeties? They’re DIII so I won’t get any athletic scholarships.
