I know my odds aren't very great for UPenn (this is my ultimate reach school) but I'm curious to find out what others think.

Schools: (I have one acceptance so far at my in-state safety, haven’t heard back from the rest of my schools yet)

UMD

UW GPA: 3.67 (rough freshman year)/W GPA: 4.31 (Top 16% of class)
SAT: 1340 (670 math + reading)
Senior Year Schedule: AP Lit, AP Calc AB, APES, AP Psych, AP Spanish Lang, Piano and Chamber Choir

  • So far I’ve gotten As both quarters in all of my classes except Calc where I’ve had a B both quarters.
    APs: 8 total by graduation (AP Gov, WHAP, AP Lang, AP Lit, AP Calc AB, AP Psych, AP Spanish Lang, APES)
    ECs: (I mentioned this on my apps but my parents work very often and we can’t really afford to do a lot of things outside of school, so I’ve managed to participate in groups that don’t meet often and are low cost.) Choir (4 years), Leadership/Mentoring Group (2 years), Music Honor Society (2 year member & current choir chair), and Summer Reading Program Volunteering (sophomore year) and ESL tutoring (junior year). Music is my main interest and I’ve tried my best to be as involved in at as I can.
    Honors: AP Scholar + Honor Roll (All Qtrs. of High School)

3% chance for Upenn. You’re not getting in. UMD is high match to low reach. AU match. GWU match to low reach. EC shows your initiative. You should get in to at least one.

Yeah, UPenn is probably not going to accept you. Maryland and GW might, though. AU is your safest bet.

Not to ditto what everyone else has said, but bar some divine intervention, you won’t get in to Upenn. Everything else is on the table within the realm of possibility, you’ll get in to at least one if not more.

You will get into all except Penn.

Thanks for your input! I have the same thoughts about Penn and I’m readily embracing the reality of rejection (I kind of regret applying in the first place).
