Colleges (In order of preference):
UCLA
USC
BC
Notre Dame
Georgetown
UCSD
LMU
UCSB
University of Washington (not St. Louis)
Santa Clara
American
Wake Forest
NYU
Fordham
I am a legacy at BC by the way. Dad, Aunt, Uncla and Grandfather all went there. Also a legacy at American.
Forgot to mention National Honor Society.
Here is my opinion:
Your extracurriculars look really, really great. Your GPA was low at first but you getting it up shows improvement.
UCLA- complicated. Your SAT’s are good but GPA is a big reach
USC- Little bit of a reach
BC- Safeish
Notre Dame- Match
Georgetown- Match
UCSD- Safe
LMU-Safe
UCSB- Once again, your SAT is great but GPA is lacking
University of Washington (not St. Louis)- Safe
Good luck!
What is your overall GPA? 92-ish? Because your school may be known for greater rigor, Naviance for your school may tell a different story than a school’s published stats and will probably give you a better idea than we can guess.
Also ask your school counselor whether they’ve had any recent legacy admissions at BC and what their stats were. I believe BC only considers alum parents for legacy status - the others don’t add anything.
Like USC, Notre Dame and Georgetown have acceptance rates too low to be matches. And I’d put BC no lower than low reach/high match for anyone; obviously your scores are at the 75th percentile there but you need to check Naviance for your GPA for BC.
If you want to hear chances on the UCs, you should post your UC GPA.
UC GPA is a 3.92 UW and 4.19 W
With great essays I think you could get accepted to several schools
@johnnyboy889 most of the Catholic schools you listed will be matches except for Georgetown and ND. I would suggest sending the ACT scores since they are better than the SAT.
You have the 3 SAT subject scores for Georgetown, but Math 1 isn’t the most ideal test to take. Although since you’re going into PoliSci it probably doesn’t matter.
@Hamurtle
Okay thanks for informing as I am totally new to college confidential.Sorry for those posts
@johnnyboy889
The only impressive thing about you app is your SAT2 scores. You didn’t take many AP classes, Your GPA is low(ish), your SAT and ACT is only slightly above avg if one considers you demographic, and your EC’s are boring. However I’m not sure how well written your essays are…
UCLA- Reach
USC- Reach
BC- Match/ High Match
Notre Dame- Reach/High Reach
Georgetown- Reach
UCSD- Match
LMU- Safety
UCSB- High Match
University of Washington (not St. Louis)- Reach
Santa Clara- Safety
American- safety
Wake Forest- Match
NYU- High Match
Fordham- Low Match
@johnnyboy889, I think BC, UCSD, WAKE, NYU, and Fordham are possible matches, with the caveat that the quality of your essays may increase your odds at reaches like Georgetown, UCLA, or USC. American is not a safety for anyone these days who does not show strong interest. Many with high stats get wait listed or not admitted to American, since they are aware of students using them as a “safety”. Your selected major may impact your chances at some of the schools you listed. Harder to get in Engineering or Film at USC, or Business, than majors in the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences! Harder to get SFS or Walsh at Georgetown than Georgetown College… Would be better to have had more than five AP classes, but you have strong enough stats to be admitted to several on your list. Good luck!
Also in-state or OOS for UCs? If OOS only AP classes get the weighted GPA point plus no financial aid.
