Hi so I’m a junior in Texas and I want to major in aerospace engineering to work at NASA. My dream school is UT but I understand getting into engineering there is really difficult so I’m considering also considering A&M but I can’t really decide on any other safeties/engineering schools in state.
My Stats:
White/Asain female
22/516 - Top 4% but this will probably fall to 5% since I got a couple Bs this semester and my school doesn’t weigh dc as high as ap
PSAT- 1200 sophomore year
1270 junior year- 700 writing, 570 math (I know this is really bad but I was not feeling well that day, on the actual sat I’ll take in February I can likely get 50 higher for math)
Classes: Dual credit program with my local community college, I will graduate with an A.S. I’m taking all the core classes, Composition, History, etc. and bioscience classes, since that’s all my school offers. I’m also taking AP Spanish IV, 3d studio art, physics 1 and I plan to take AP Spanish V, Ap Chem or Bio and I’ll take a second year of studio art to finish my portfolio.
- My school offers IB, AP, classes and my DC program so I’m not I have the most rigorous classes. I was when mistaken signing up and I was not aware you still had to apply to a major at UT even with auto-admit, hopefully, I haven’t ruined my chances of getting in?
ECs- I don’t have a lot but they are mostly all demonstrated interest so will that make up for the relative lack? I will also write an essay about the family obligations I had freshman-sophomore years which prevented me from signing up for any extracurriculars.
Art Competitions- VASE 8th grade, 10,11,12 and my teacher plans for us to sign up for others
Mu alpha theta (11-12)
NASA aerospace summer program (11)
Part-time retail job weekends (11-)
Planned ~50 hrs Community Service and Job shadowing required by college program (sping 11-12)
I also want to apply to the UT MITE summer program in February, but can’t say if I will get in
I am confident in my essay-writing skills and future Teacher Recs, so those should help too.
