I’d say you have pretty good chances of getting into UT. Not sure how competitive the major is though. Even if you’re in-state and not an auto-admit, I think your complete record in addition to your “pretty good” essays are something that the admissions office will appreciate

thank you, i hope so! UT is so weird sometimes with the most intelligent people getting rejects from their first choice major which is very nerve wracking for me. :’)

How did you score on AP tests?

NM, I saw them on another thread. I believe you will be accepted to the university. I don’t know if you are still pre-med bound, but if you are I understand you can major in anything and get your med school pre-requisites.

I say this because I recall last year there were a lot of very high stat kids that were not in the top 7% that did not get into CNS - College of Natural Sciences.

That is my concern for you. Your standardized test scores are great, strength of schedule is good too. I have a slight concern if you are aiming for pre-med and you chose not to take AP Chemistry.

Just an observation. You will be accepted.

I am pre-med bound and currently hope to major in Bio and minor in Journalism. I am not very good at chem and wasn’t wanting to destroy my gpa further by taking it my senior year. I see why that would be a concern for colleges and regret not taking it now. thank you! @lots2do

Good luck to you @mangoes9! When you take your Chem courses in college, just get set up with a tutor from the beginning so you don’t get behind! I will be encouraging my Longhorn to do this next semester for Calculus.

lol im sure youll be fine im trying to get in with a 29

Your SAT score is super! I think you will get in. You have a solid, diverse resumee  My friend who wasn’t in top 10 percent (he was I think top 14 percent), he got about a 2180- close to your score- got into McComb’s- which is super competitive. You’ll be fine! If you get in, I’ll see you there! Moody ftw!

UT Austin does not use top 10% for auto admit. This year I believe it’s top 8% for auto admit. Other Texas public universities use top 10%. Are you in state?

Sorry, for 2015 it’s the top 7%.
