Honestly, you have a wonderful chance at those schools. Your freshman grades are NOTHING to be worried about, I promise, especially for those schools.

If you don’t mind, could you tell us long you’ve been doing each extracurricular?

Thebeatlestoday-Thanks!! I’m really happy to hear that I have good chances

Extracurriculars:
*Newsmagazine (Assistant Editor Senior Year, Section Editor Junior Year, Staffer Sophomore Year)
*Debate Team (also have done well at national competitions) (Member Freshman & Sophomore Year, Secretary Junior Year, & President Senior Year)
*Raising Money to Buy Coats for Children Club (Historian) (10th-12th grade; historian all three years. My friends & I started the club and they’re all in my grade so I couldn’t move up position wise)
*Student Government (Treasurer) (Senior year but I ran junior year and didn’t make it)
*Religious Education Kindergarten Teacher for 3 years
*Therapy Dog Handler. Visit the library and lets little kids read to my dog (all four years)
*School’s Therapy Dogs Club (Senior year-president, junior year-publicity officer, sophomore & freshman year-member)

I was just concerned that maybe your ECs were a little sparse, but with your many leadership positions and all the time you’ve put in, the list looks fabulous :)

I really want to know what schools I’m on the bubble for. My parents are letting me choose 2 schools I can visit and tour. (If I choose UCLA/USC that counts as one since I’m in the area…) But I know interviewing on campus might be an advantage, so what schools do I have a chance at and might get into if I have a pushover?

Don’t worry too much about your freshman grades for its sophomore and junior year that really count! Your stats look fantastic and I’d say you have a real shot at all of the schools on the list.
And I agree with mglevitt1 that USC and UCLA seem to be good for you. My parents won’t let me leave the east coast but man if I had your stats and my parents’ permission to leave for the west coast, I’d definitely go for it. From what I’ve heard, the high ranked California schools are super great. I hope you get in Best of luck!

Jh0311- sure. The site is called Florida Virtual School, but you can take classes even if you’re not a Florida resident. [Online High School | Online Middle School | Grades K-12 | Florida Virtual School](http://www.flvs.net)

Thanks everyone for chancing me! I’d love to hear others’ opinions.

i would say your grades are excellent however you did not post your gpa ( those two can actually be quite different) you took many honors classes which i congratulate u on but check the uc doorways page to see if you receive weighted credit for it (only 1 honor class at my school is weighted -.-) but overall i think you have a good chance at all thoses schools. I am especially concerned about your online classes. From what I know for UC they allow transfer credit from community colleges but I do not know about this online site of yours. You may want your counselor to check if those online courses count towards your A-G unit count. Anyways you have a pretty spectacular college application ^^
chance me?

Honestly I don’t believe your freshman year grades will impact you that much, mostly due to the fact that you had an upward trend. Also, your SATs are outstanding, and the fact that you come from a competitive school and are in the top 10% helps a lot.
