Vandy Essay- Wrote it about being Student Body President. Respectable, nothing spectacular

Letter of Rec- So my AP English teacher wrote it who knows me very well- he showed me- phenomenal. Other letter of rec should be decent because the teacher loves me but probably nothing spectacular
(I’m also a white male from TN)

Good chances. You fit in with the typical EDI profile, as far as numbers/ec’s go. It all depends on the subjective interpretation of essays/recs/the app as a whole from here.

Wow almost identical stats, I’m applying ED1 as well. Are you planning on running there/been in contact with the coach.

I think my SAT score is the final nail in the coffin. I am reappearing in december. Hopefully ill improve and send the updated score to other colleges. Anyways what do you guys think? Do i even have a chance, or should i start writing essays for other colleges. Oh, and i am a Pakistani National :stuck_out_tongue: @jamesb24 , your chances are wayyy better than mine.

@fdgjfg Thanks, I hope so

@TomBuchanan I haven’t made much of an effort yet. Because my times are comparable with the guys on their rosters, I am really going to start pursuing a place on the team though. They’re all walk-ons so I’m excited to see what happens. Are you thinking about running XC at Vandy??!

@furrukhkhan10 I’m not sure what that SAT score equates to but as far as everything else you seem like a potential competitive applicant. I would sign up for the ACT as well and see how you do on that. Honestly, if you make a 30 or above, I had a friend get in with decent extracurriculars and a 30 (he was an African-American and swears that’s the only reason he got in) so I think you should definitely go for it

Yeah I’m hoping to walk on too! Good luck and hopefully we end up teammates!

@jamesb24

@TomBuchanan for sure man! Have you reached out to the coach yet? Do you have any times for track or something that you want to get down first??

@jamesb24 i’m a black guy with a 30 and lots of ECs! do you know what his gpa was? w/uw

i applied ED1 as well

@sumuzu it was really good, I believe around a 3.9. He was near the top of the class too. But he got in Regular Decision and applied on December 31st so if you go ED you’d automatically have a much better chance!

@james24 thanks man. Hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst. Fingers crossed. BTW, when are the results out? I hear some people here saying they are usually out a few days before the mentioned date (15th).

Man this guy sounds like a real tool @jamesb24

hahahaha I was thinking the same thing @jcallahan10

hahahaha got denied

you got denied?! wow… seeing as a long of people with numbers lower than yours got in, what do you think was the reason for the decision?
