Chance me Vassar ED

Thank you so much for reading this! I really want to get into Vassar, but I would also be open to suggestions for other schools if I don’t get in! Also I would like to know whether or not I should apply ED I or ED II? Thanks!

Vassar’s ED acceptance rate is usually around 40%, so a little less than double its overall acceptance rate. I would say that you look like a very strong candidate for either ED or RD, but your chances are probably quite strong during the ED round. I’d be shocked if you didn’t get in during ED. True, Vassar is a fine school, and its applicants are some of the strongest in the country, but your current grades, scores, and ECs make you a solid candidate regardless. ED should put you over the top. Just don’t let that go to your head. You’ll need to write strong essays and obtain strong recommendation letters.

BTW, it’s nice to see someone who has found two schools, both LACs, and has fallen in love with them instead of being obsessed with Ivies and near-Ivies, whose focus is not at all on undergraduates. At either Vassar or William and Hobart (where you are a shoo-in, so this should be your safety) you’ll receive a terrific education.

Keep in mind that Vassar gets many more female than male applicants, resulting in a much lower admission rate for females. It varies only about five percent either way from the most recent stats on College Data, which shows 55% of males were admitted, versus 15% of females. I’ve seen no data for gender and ED, but my guess is that it’s in the same ballpark.

The 2017-18 Common Data Set for Vassar indicates a 35% admission rate for male vs 19% for female applicants with females representing 70% of the total applicant pool. ED admit rate was 41% with an overall admit rate of 23.7%.
