Your test scores are in the higher range of the 25 - 75% of Fall 2019 admitted students. You GPA is closer to the 25% of that range for the admit, in the middle of the range for the enrolls. With a 11% acceptance rate for Fall 2019. USC does turn down applicants with perfect GPAs and tests scores. Viterbi is more competitive. Generally, whether it is USC or another school, engineer is more competitive than other majors. You should apply broadly and to some safety schools. It appears that you are out of state (CA). There are many good public and private schools offering engineering degrees, i.e., Univ. of Texas, Austin; Univ. of Washington, Seattle; Univ. of Michigan, Illinois, and other lessor tier schools.

Also read the postings in this USC forum under the thread “What are my chances: Read First” by Madbean; and the posting response by WWWard in the thread “Chance me for USC” and other responses by WWWard. Good luck!

Would Umichigan be a lesser tier school? I was under the impression that umichigan ops and usc were about equally competitive.

Like UC Berkeley, UCLA, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, is a top tier public school and very competitive to get into. I believe the undergraduate engineering is in the top 20, I’ll have to check and repost.

University of Michigan has a top 10 program. Virterbi is ranked # 29, the 2018 edition had Virterbi #25. They are all very good engineering schools. You should not be fixated on a school ranking and just work on getting into a good school. Here is the link to US New’s ranking of undergraduate engineering schools (for schools offering PhDs):

@Thomasato1234 - Do you have a hook? URM, low SES or first member of family to attend college. You will be competitive, but stats are only part of the picture. There will be rejections for students with your stats and better.
