Haven’t taken SAT/ACT yet.

ECs: this isn’t gonna be a lot –
.volunteer at senior center once a week: 27 hours so far
.academic bowl
. I play piano, no lessons, haven’t been to contests
. I like to spend time writing about my feelings in life on pieces of papers.
. I attend SAT prep.
. Volunteer at library

Other than that I don’t have friends nobody likes me except my parents. Haven’t been to my homecomings. I hate pep rally. I like to stay home all day and talk to my parents. I am extremely good at math. I can play chess. Also will one B+ or a C hurt me? And how should I perform over the next two and 3/4 years I have left in high school? No I will not get a job and study abroad for safety reasons. I’m only allowed a limited number of activities set by my parents.

I keep forgetting to add stuff. Yeah, probably I could get straight As and stuff but this is my best. I’m just not so good at foreign language (hence the B+ in Spanish 4). It’s so difficult and its hard for me to understand. I don’t want colleges to see this downfall. I’m trying so hard here. I can’t do sports I have too many medical issues. I’m your typical “chicken wuss” who is overly self-conscious and has low self esteem. I get text anxiety. But I don’t give up. I really really want to learn. I want to get into a decent college with a good premed program. No HYPS for me. So the big question is: will college accept me?

Silly me I’m forgetting to put in my gpa:
Unweighted 3.95
Weighed 4.15 (I think)

No test scores, no chances. Come back and repost once you have some scores.

you still have two years to go and yeah as @Gumbymom stated we need test scores and you probably will need better ec.

Come on guys just give me an estimate. Maybe a good state college? Don’t say I need better ECS I have a limit set and I’ve already reached th max. Stop being so heartless like all the people in CC.

You guys have to be a little more open-minded a bit. Based on just my GPA. Perhaps if I had a really good SAT score score such as 2000+ . Don’t be so obstinate geez. You really think that kids who what do NHS, get a job at what, starbucks, varsity football, tutoring, ECs aren’t everything. Don’t you tell me to get a life. I have one. I just stay home all day and watch TV.

@GreNADO There are people who go into the SAT without studying and get a 2400 then there are those who study for years and go in and still get a 1600. There’s no way they can recommend you a school with that much of an unknown

just please give me an estimate stop being so TENACIOUS

@GreNADO just keep up the good work. With a gpa of 3.5-4 you have good chances such as PSU, UVA and others. They do require high SAT scores though! Such as 1700,1800,1900. So, until you know your score you will know your possibilities.

You may want to avoid party schools in that case. But in college, you will need to eventually overcome this.

Why? Do your parents not realize this is going to hurt your chances at colleges down the road, especially when one of those activities is SAT tutoring (not an EC)?

Then you’ll love pre-med.

Nobody is telling you to get a life. But staying home and watching TV isn’t liable to impress colleges.

Oh, the irony.

The other posters are being sensible. It’s pointless to chance you based on less than 1.5 years of grades and no test scores. No school in the country will reject a student for having a 3.95 UW, which is where everything else (test scores, ECs, essays, recommendations) comes in.

People here aren’t being heartless, they’re telling you that having few to no ECs is going to seriously hamper your application. This is an attempt to help you out. You should talk to your parents about being allowed to do more outside of school.

There’s some good advice on this thread. As other people have noted, keep up your grades. Do your best on the SAT, and come back when you have test scores along with a GPA and ECs that are close to what you’ll be applying with.

Tell your parents you’d like to do more activities as you think it will help you get into a better college. If you are not doing anything after school, as your posts suggest, you should have enough time to do more activities. No one can really chance you without test scores, and you really need to stop being so aggressive towards people. We are only trying to help you, and all the advice here is good, it just may not be what you want to hear.

I’m not being aggressive. Like I could handle so many ECs.

as long as you have good scores you can go to colleges. At least that is what applies in other countries such as China or Vietnam or others. I’m doing things the old fashioned way. American colleges…

Any college worth attending has more applicants than places in their freshman class. This allows them to be picky, and with very few ECs your chances are significantly lowered.

You can do things the old fashioned way, but square pegs don’t usually fit round holes very well, and doing what US colleges would have required 50 years ago is not a sound strategy today.

To misquote the Good Book, it’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a student with few ECs to get into a good college.

Advice: do NOT write “attend SAT prep” as an extracurricular activity when you apply.

I’m not sure why you posted about 7th/8th grade, because they aren’t even considered when it comes to college.
Anyway, I’m sure you could definitely get into college once you take the SAT/ACT (few colleges don’t even require them, and many colleges have close to 100% acceptance rates, so anyone can go to college.). Like @awg2004 said before, just keep up the good GPA.

However if you’re thinking of the higher, more competitive schools you really need to come back and ask again once you have more stats to offer. Its fairly difficult to chance someone based off of their GPA and lack of EC’s - you’re only in 10th grade; consider asking again next year or in senior year. Take some AP classes and try to develop more EC’s if you want to be a competitive applicant.

“Other than that I don’t have friends nobody likes me except my parents.”
Don’t write about that in your essays :stuck_out_tongue:

What is your tone of voice with this? Could you handle them, or is this sarcastic? I’m not suggesting you do every EC offered by your school, but doing one or two more can only help. Unless there are no clubs you are interested in besides the ones you are in.

Have you taken the PSAT yet? When you have those results, that will give you a starting point, regarding test scores.

I just want to go to college.
