Applying for WLP (did not apply to honors program, if I go to EC will probably apply to enter it as a sophomore)
Current GPA: ~3.4 UW, 3.87 W (my school grades on a weird scale so that’s an estimate).
SATs sent and superscored: 2130 out of 2400, 1400 out of 1600 (750 CR, 650 M, 730 W)
Recs: 2 teachers and a counselor who like me a lot.
Essays: I love writing and I’m pretty good at it so they should be good.
Honors Classes (year taken):
Honors Biology (9)
Honors English (10)
Spanish 4 Honors (11)
2D Art Portfolio (12) (honors-level art elective)
Epidemiology/Public Health (12) (honors-level science elective)
AP Classes (year taken):
AP Lit & Comp (11) - 4 on exam
AP Lang & Comp (12)
AP US History (11) - 3 on exam
AP Comparative Government (12)
Extracurriculars:
-Quiz bowl team (captain 2 years, went to national competitions all the years I’ve been in it. Wrote my CA essay about going to last year’s History Bowl nationals tourney in DC.)
-Drama (never been a lead but I’m always a consistent actor in the school/community theatre)
-Creative Writing (I plan to study English and I think my writing talent came out in my essays. I also write for my school’s online magazine and I’ve entered stories in writing competitions all over the country.)
-Paid work experience (summer job at hair salon)
I mention a few others in my application (ski team, Christian Fellowship, book club, social justice clubs) but the above are the big ones I highlighted. Quality over quantity, right? Also, I go to boarding school and had adjustment issues freshman year so my grades that year weren’t great (B- average) but I’ve shown a lot of upward trajectory (my first senior grades were an A- average.) That’s made clear by my transcript, would that negatively affect me?
