You have a ton of good business-related awards and ECs. I see a good number of people wanting to go to Wharton or MIT and all of their ECs are Yearbook Editor and Spanish Club President and such. Nothing related to business or engineering or anything, and I’m like… yeah good luck with that. Keep in mind that a lot the kids you’re competing with are like that, so you definitely have an advantage. But anyways, awesome DECA awards.

ACT is wayyyyyyyy too low. You should be getting at least a 32. I understand that that’s your “projected low,” but aim for the 32-35 range.

Any SAT IIs? You need those. (Unless your IB-ness cancels out the need for SAT II, but I don’t think it does.)

No volunteer work? Not necessary, but looks nice.

GPA isn’t great, but if you have a high class rank, then you’re good.

Anyways, looks all right but you need a higher ACT/SAT as well as SAT IIs. Best of luck :)

SATs/ACT WAY too low for a shot at Penn (especiallly Wharton) and even the others. Those are lower than 25th percentile for those schools. Even GPA would not be up to standard. The EC’s don’t make up for it. Sorry for being so harsh, but unless you are a URM, you have little chance at those schools. Those schools are all reaches so look for some matches and safeties

All reaches. Look for matches.

Great EC’s though :D

i recieve sat scores in like 6 days what should i settle for? and still have to take ACT next year…

what are some colleges that are a better fit for me? the college MUST have a strong business program.

Try retaking the SAT, it is too low for the schools listed above.
Also keep in mind that it is a bit harder to get into UVA if you’re out of state.
If you are interested in a good business program, NYU’s Stern school of business might be less of a reach

yes scores come out in a few days i havent even recieved real scores yet…i am preparing to take sat II’s in june though and was wondering what tests i should take for business?

I would say your chances at the top business schools are not at that great if GPA and test scores are taken into account. Even business ECs may not help you there, especially at UPenn (Wharton) where they say that you don’t need to do anything related to business ECs in order to get in, so kids with better scores who may not have the business ECs you have could be favored…

with your stats, you may not be able to get into a school with an excellent business program. BUT you could always aim for a lower school/program, get great grades there, and then transfer to one of the places you are currently looking at.

For business, I’d take the subject test for Math II for sure. Other than that, I’m not sure. Foreign language might be appealing?

“especially at UPenn (Wharton) where they say that you don’t need to do anything related to business ECs in order to get in, so kids with better scores who may not have the business ECs you have could be favored…”

That’s silly… If I was an admissions officer, I would prefer the kid with the business EC’s and not the kid with a 5 in AP sciences.

But not if the kid with business ECs has a 1800-2000 SAT and a 3.7 GPA, while the kid with the 5 in AP Sciences has a 4.0 and a 2400.

what scores should i be trying to hit on the SAT I and ACT?

2300+ and a 35 (maybe a 34, but that would really be pushing it at those top schools).

Try participating in as many competitions as possible. You might get lucky. Is there any reason you project your SAT score to be so low? It makes no difference within 100 points or so, but yours is a bit far from the top. And that will definitely affect your chances at admission.

so ive done more research lets say my sat is 2050. how would i look for Villanova, University of Richmond, University of Rochester, Boston University and Bentley? i feel that these schools are closer in my reach tell me if im wrong on any of these.

You would almost definitely get into those schools :)

And you can still apply to the top business schools if you want, I was just saying that getting your scores up would help more.

I agree, you need some matches and safeties.

SATs/ACTs are definitely on the lower end, but with the right amount of studying and determination, this can be improved.

SAT II’s are likely required for most of those schools. Take at least two, one Math (most colleges like Math SAT II’s usually Level 2), and one of your choice. For you, since you seem to be involved in French, I recommend French.

ECs are pretty good. I think those are useful considering that I haven’t seen any applicant that has had ANY athletic ECs, let alone ones that go beyond sports like tennis or fencing.

Try to engage in more community service, too!
