ED at Vandy? You should get in, especially with your near-perfect ACT as Vandy admissions seem to be very focused on top test scores.

Your GPA is very low for top schools. U of Miami may be fine. If your school is very competitive, then your class rank may help. If your class rank is low, then it may not help your low GPA. If you look at the admission stat of these schools, you may notice there are not many students accepted with a GPA below 3.5. When that happens, it is usually for athletic recruitment.

Your gpa will be taken in context. Thus, your class rank is what matters. What is your rank?

My school doesn’t do class ranks…

Vanderbilt: Low reach
Wake Forest: match
Harvard: reach, though legacy will help a lot!
UNC-Chapel Hill: match
Emory: high match
Cornell: low reach
University of Miami match
Johns Hopkins high match
Wash U: high match

I think your biggest problem is your SAT II scores. Since you took the ACT, though, you will not need to send those scores to these universities (maybe some, though definitely not all, I’m not familiar with all of their requirements), so keep that in mind if you do decide to retake Math II and Literature and/or USH. Consider taking AP Physics B instead of Honors, at my school, Honors is even more advanced than B…

Chance me!!: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1527794-chance-please.html

I can’t take AP Physics you have to have taken either Physics of Physics Honors as a prerequisite and I haven’t taken any physics before. But thank you all! :)

See if you might be able to bypass that rule or maybe even studying to take a placement test? I promise, Physics B is not hard at all and it will look better than Honors, but the choice is yours. Chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1527794-chance-please.html

Colleges have said that they value your high school transcript over standardized tests, though I assume you have taken the most rigorous courseload available to you, which is an up. If you have not, that is a down.

In terms of your chances at the schools you have mentioned:

Vanderbilt ED: low reach (ED may boost it to high match)
Wake Forest: don’t know enough about
Harvard: high reach (as it is for anyone)
UNC-Chapel Hill: high match
Emory: high match
Cornell: low reach
University of Miami: don’t know enough about
Johns Hopkins: high match/low reach
Wash U: low reach

Just my opinions. Best of luck to you in the application process!

I just learned that my school isn’t actually offering AP Physics next year due to the lack of interest. And I have taken the most rigorous courseload that my school has let me take.

Chance me?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=1527740

The only school I think you’ll certainly get into is UMiami, and probably Wake Forest as well. (Maybe UNC too if you are in state.) Vanderbilt ED is certainly a possibility (your ACT score is really good!) but your grades / SAT IIs unfortunately bring the quality of your application down – though you’ve definitely shown that the Peabody school is a great fit for you.

I’m not so sure about the other schools. You have a great shot at Emory, but many of the other schools you listed are very competitive. Having a class rank would help evaluate your GPA (it really seems low, especially considering your ACT). Triple legacy at Harvard is nothing to sneeze at, but based on your GPA, it just doesn’t seem that likely. JHU, Wash U, and Cornell will probably be toss ups.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1527524-chance-me-ivies-lacs-athletic-recruit-will-chance-back.html

your ACT is clearly in the top percentile at any of these schools. Your GPA is slightly low for some of the more elite schools on your list (JHU, WashU, Harvard) BUT if your curriculum is rigorous, I’m sure the admissions committee will see. Your EC are rather good;they can make u stand out. Pick 1 or 2 in particular that can make u seem spectacular to an admissions committee. Your high SATII show you are a consistently high standardized test taker and will help u stand out too.
I would say a match for all schools except for Harvard (low reach…it is for everyone lol)

chance back!?!?!?

Thank you! Unfortunately, my school does not rank. We only find out the valedictorian at our graduation.

bump please!

bump pls!!!
