Chance me, will chance back.

Also my first post on this website.
Anyways, here we go:

Northwestern University

Stanford University
University of Pennsylvania

Texas Resident: Male Asian
Career: Biomedical Engineering

SAT(in one sitting): 750 CR, 800 M, 730 W
SAT II: 800 Math II, 770 Chemistry
GPA UW: 4.00 (W 4.00 out of 4.00)

ECs:

National Merit Semifinalist (so far)
All State Cellist x1 (in 10th grade)

These are my big points. I have some other ECs in random clubs, but they aren't really substantial. I feel like my essays will be decent and have no idea about my recs yet.

Anyways, chance me well and I'll chance you back!

Cheers~

I should probably add that the school I attend does not rank.

I have participated in the following clubs:
Laser Science
National Honor Society
Business Club (for FBLA = 4th place in state for Health Care)
Chinese Club
Spanish Club
Poetry Club

I’m not sure if I need to add anything else.

Cheers~

I don’t think you have to worry too much. Your SAT scores are great, gpa is perfect (as long as you took enough AP/IB/Honors classes), and your ECS are just as perfect as well. The only thing I can though is that for the ivies, getting in is more of a luck of the draw in many cases, but with your stats, you should be fine for all the schools listed.

hard to say without knowing your schedule, but I imagine its rigorous. Your definitely on track for all your schools, and stand a decent chance at any of them. (30-50%)

I do not have AP/IB credits. For my junior and senior years, I enrolled at a special program at UNT for dual credit instead.

Here are the courses equivalents:
Biology I and II
Chemistry I and II
Calculus I & II
Multivariable Calculus
Vector Calculus
Applied Probability and Statistics
Mechanics (Physics) I
English Writing I and II
Neuroscience I

Cheers~

Wow your grades and test scores are brilliant!!
Im pretty sure you’ll get into atleast JHU, Northwestern and Rice!! Probably even Brown! I’d say Columbia, Duke, Upenn will probably decide on the basis of stuff like your essay because your scores seem to be in place.
And Stanford is so completely random in their admissions sometimes that I really can’t say anything! :P

I think you’re in at all the schools except MIT, Stanford, Penn, Columbia, and maybe Duke. But at those 5 schools you have as good of a chance as anyone else. Being Asian also sucks. Good luck and please chance back!

I have a former alumni of MIT writing a letter of recommendation for me, so I don’t know if that will help (He was my math professor). It was hard to strike good relationships with the professors because I was only an ordinary student out of 100 in each class or so.

I’m not really sure what Columbia and Duke are looking for in terms of application, but I’m relying on my essay to help break those barriers.

Thanks everyone

Cheers~
