Okay, I don't get these types of threads. If you are asking others to chance you, why do you believe you can chance others? Why dont you just chance yourself? :/

Good point. People are desperate so they do what they can.

Simply because nobody is responding to their posta! Ya… If you can chance for yourself, the forum doesn’t need to be existing! No one has perfect information so we need a communication plateform to exchange our information! Who knows why ppl don wanna share? So you just sit there aloofly to laugh at ppl who receive no ones’ help? So interesting, what is the point for such a forum to be existing?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with asking for chances. I have posted chance me threads on the forums of the universities I’m applying to. I just don’t get the “will chance back” part of it. If I feel like I’m qualified to give chances on people’s prospects of being admitted to a college, I wouldn’t ask for chances, I would “chance” myself.

Some of these chance will chance back threads are pretty stupid. I remember back in 09 when I was applying, I created a chance thread for Michigan. The first guy who responded to me was some guy just mass chancing everyone so he would get an answer back as well. I think he asked me to chance him for UConn, Syracuse, BC and some other schools. I was a high school senior as well, more or less clueless about the schools I was applying to so I how was I supposed to know anything about his schools? I looked around on the forums and saw that no one really said “sorry I don’t know enough about your schools” so I literally just went to USNWR and looked up the rankings of the schools, the average test score range as well as GPA before chancing him. Most of the time when people don’t respond to chance threads, it’s not because people are aloofly scoffing at the person asking to be chanced, it’s because they don’t have any information or knowledge about the schools that are being asked. How could it possibly help you if you’re getting chanced by someone who knows even less than you do?

Of course for the people actually creating these threads, the purpose isn’t truly to get chanced, it’s for confidence boosting. You look at those people, they likely already have a pretty good grasp on how strong of an applicant they are. They just want to get as many people as possible to reaffirm their belief and get them through the nervousness of waiting for a response from their colleges. It’s more or less a stress release valve.
