thanks all for the insight. : )

Get that GPA up… being African definitely helps though, and I would retake my SATs one more time, just to make sure… if possible, get it above a 2300, unless you’ve already taken it over 3 times… although your school doesn’t offer APs, taking AP exams for certain courses and self studying might help, just to show that you’re taking courses at an AP level…
As far as everything goes though, I don’t know if coming from Canada is considered being an “international student”, but if so, that might hurt your chances a bit more…
U of Chicago is a slight reach, and Columbia is a great reach, but being African definitely helps you out a lot. If you get that SAT score up, it’ll help you a lot more, and your major will help you a lot if you have a lot of work put into it…
I’m also a high school junior! The competition is tough haha, but I’m sure you’ll get in… but of course you should look into other programs as well… I know that NYU is pretty good with that whole entertainment stuff, although I’m not too sure if you want to do that kind of film studies, but yea… definitely look around some more… and consider USC maybe? That’s right by Hollywood, you could get a ton of internships/hookups in college? idk hahaha good luck though :P

chance me? (:

Your GPA is a little low, but an upwards trend is always good, colleges definitely like that. If you think you could do even better on the SAT, retaking it is always good to give you an extra edge, but your score is decent already. Also, your EC’s are good, especially the filming school events, which is more unique than a lot of people’s EC’s will be.
