Chance me, Will Chance Back

Hi My GPA is around 3.2 3.3 weighted, but its so low due to both my parents having major illness during my sophomore year and since then I am on an upward trend My Weighted GPA for my Junior year was about a 3.7 and unweighted about a 3.5, I expect a 4.0 UW and 4.6 W for senior year. My SAT Score is 2200+. My Schedule for senior year includes AP CALC AB, AP Physics B, AP GOV/ECON,Spanish 3, TA, AP Lit. I am hoping to apply to Boston U, NYU, Georgia Tech, and Texas A&M, and Maybe UC Davis. My parents have also had illness my junior year but i have learned to balance taking care of them and my studies at the same time. I have over 250 Hours of Community service. I am part of a 4 or 5 clubs at school. Will be taking 2 ECs DECA and Track team much more seriously next year as more interest has grown for it.

My Current GPA UW is around 3.2 and 3.3 W

I Also hope to have 2 really good Letters of Rec

All Hope to Take SAT 2 Math, Get 750+ if not 800 in November
Male, Asian, Income 100,000+, My dad also went to BU

Boston University: High match. SAT score is above average for that school and a legacy. You can describe your situation about the family illness and hopefully colleges will understand it. Just be sure to increase that 3.5 UW GPA. 4.0 senior year will definitely help you and colleges will believe you more about your situation. They will see that you are actually talented, but just had to face a setback Sophomore year.
New York University: High Match, but you may want to improve your ECs. They don’t really show a passion for something, and increase your GPA like I said above.
GTU: High Match/Match, but again be sure to build a passion and make it evident through your ECs.
Texas A&M:Safety
UC Davis: Match

Again, you should really build your ECs. They are weak right now. Once you show a passion that is justifiable through your ECs, then you will have a much better chance. Also, your GPA really needs to rise. If you can show colleges that you were able to get a 4.0 UW Senior Year, then that should help a LOT. Good luck! I know you’ll end up somewhere great!

Chance back? Thanks

I understand your troubles with your parents- maybe add that in the info section of your app or write about that.
Try to make up for the GPA with ECs, show increased involvement in them or start your own organization

You’re in at Tech and UCD

High match NYU

All of the schools that you have mentioned are good matches for you as you have good scores that are in all of the schools “target zones”. Furthermore, one of the new common app essays is about overcoming a challenge in your life so you have a really good essay topic in the fact that you had to face great difficulties when your parents became ill. If you can rock the essays I would even give you a low match for all of these schools.

PLEASE CHANCE BACK!

Thank you guys Im chancing you back right now

Anything else?

These are all matches for you. High matches would be BU and NYU, but the rest are matches (except for Texas A&M, which is probably a safety). I think you’ve got a great list going for you, and honestly, I have a great deal of respect for your being able to both keep your grades up & ECs going while supporting a family going through some issues; I’m sure any adcom would be able to appreciate that as well. Good luck to you!
