Chance me; will chance back

I am a junior in high school, and I was wondering what my chances are at some of the Ivies. I am looking at Penn, Columbia, Yale, and Harvard. I know chances are slim for everyone, I just want to know if I have a shot!

White, female, living in rural Wisconsin.

My unweighted GPA is 3.9. I have only taken AP and honors classes. There is no class rank at my school, but I'd guess I'm in the top 10%.

I got a 35 on the ACT. Science: 36. Math: 34. English: 35. Reading: 35.

Although the actual list has not been released yet, my PSAT score will probably qualify me to be at least a semi qualifier for the national merit scholarship. (Got a 215)

My extra curriculars:
Student senate (leadership)
Forensics (leadership)(last year I did pretty well, national qualifier in original oratory)
JSA (leadership) (super involved)
Stage crew (leadership)
School play
National Honor Society
Spanish Honor society
Mock Trial

I have published articles in magazines before. I have also done extensive volunteer work through my church and the local blood center. I also went on a two week mission trip to an orphanage in Mexico.

I have a handful of teachers that know me really well, who will probably write me suburb letters of rec.

Bump… :)

Yeah you’ll definetly get into at least one, probably Penn. Teach me how to get a 35 :)

^I don’t think you can really say that… Those schools are extremely competitive, and will get hundreds of applicants who are so similar to you… With a 35 ACT, a long list of ECs, etc. You do have a decent shot, but all four of them are still reaches, and there’s no guarantee that you’ll get in.
Btw, what are “suburb letters of rec”?

You’ve got a strong application, and taking into consideration your ethnicity and gender (which believe it or not really does make a huge difference in your application), I would say you have a strong chance. Good job with your GPA :). What were your AP Scores and did your GPA have a lot of A’s in those AP Courses?

Yeah, did you get someone with a 9 to 5 job, and a housewife, to write you letters of recommendation?

Harharhar… As charming as a suburb letter would be, a superb letter would be preferred to what autocorrect clearly has planned for me.
In response to TurtIe, I have gotten 5s on all my AP tests, and strong As in their corresponding classes.

Did you take the SAT 2’s? Your ACT is really good and will carry you a long way in the application process. Your EC’s are good, but emphasize how you contributed to them etc. I am just like you, a couple of years away from hopefully going to the Ivies. Chance me back please…

I say you have just as good of a chance as any top applicant. Your academics and ECs seem pretty solid but in the end those schools are reaches for everyone. Keep up the good work and I’m sure you’ll end up somewhere great, even if it’s not an Ivy. Chance me back  http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1595874-chance-me-ucs.html

I’d say you’re a reach at all of them…like most people. Though I can’t say you have a particularly better shot at any one of them over the other (i mean besides little differences in average acceptance rate) It’s just gonna depend on how you stack up in terms of each individual pool of applicants.

I don’t really have a formal chance thread, but closest thing to it…
