<p>My stats:
I go to a competitive HS in New York (NYU usually gets about 100 apps from my school and accepts half of them)
GPA: 3.55 UW
ACT: 29 (higher english and reading, lower science and math)
EC's: A lot, not going to name. I am president of a community service club, treasurer of a research club, and editor of school newspaper. I work at a pool on weekends and over the summer--trained lifeguard. I volunteer at a local shelter for past 2 years. Also mentioned i take about 5 dance classes/year
Senior courseload: AP Lit, AP Studio Art, AP Macro, AP Calc AB, AP Enviro, AP Psych, Criminal Justice...
I also have taken 4 other APs but didnt send scores..AP Lang, AP World, AP Music Theory, AP US History</p>
<p>My essays (IMO) were pretty great for NYU and Brandeis, both parents went to NYU (hoping that will help), and I said I want to major in English but in my supplement I mentioned I might want to do something with Politics or Art or Animal Studies...as you can see I'm pretty torn..</p>

<p>Your Ec’s are really good! EDII for NYU definitely will boost your chances by a bit. Legacy is also a contributing factor, but don’t expect it to completely carry you! Best of luck!</p>
<p>Thanks for the chances! Many kids from my school are accepted to NYU with similar scores as me (Naviance) and I know of a friend who was accepted with the same ACT/GPA…does this mean anything? Same for Brandeis. I think I will be the only one applying there this year (not many apply)…will that up my chances?</p>
<p>my school doesn’t have many honors classes, only for math and sciences but they are very difficult to get it-- most kids in those classes go on to the ivy league. i was in honors biology and did quite well, got an A but that was freshman year.
all my classes are technically advanced and i have a rigorous courseload. my transcript is filled with mostly A’s and B’s (A+'s in english and soc, B/B+ in math and science)</p>
