sorry, i dont know enough about the colleges you are applying for too give you an accurate chance

but I can give advice: dont waste summer! study your SATs and you should see a score increase from an already decent score. i dunno if being from Vietnam international helps or hurts your chances; but i assume english isn;t your first language? i dont think you CR score will be a deal breaker because of your situation, but im really just using judgment, i dont know if this is the case. obviously, your writing score is really good, so colleges know you can use language effectively, and that you aren’t a complete one sided math person. id like to know your EC’s (really briefly), as those are what can set you apart. just dont get discouraged by other people’s resumes that seem really good: people with good resumes are more likely to show them off on this website

best of luck! youll love it in the US wherever you go

@brickthelegend Thank you so much for your reply. Actually, I dont think that 560 CR is the real score, I believe either the machine made some mistakes or I just messed up while bubbling into the answer sheet because I was pretty sure I was going to get at least a 650. But that 560 just came out of no where lol.
Anyway, here is my brief ECs list:
Class Vice President of Study
Organizing team for the school activities
Mathematics and English tutor for 8th graders.
President of O.O.P.S (Organization of Passionate Students)
Volunteer in Organizing events for the Museum of Ethnology
School Voluntary Team:
Hang Bo District Voluntary Team of Summer
Self-Learning Japanese
Playing Piano
Participate in Organizing “Vietnam Innovation Day 2009”
Participated in UNESCO International Essay Contest for Young People
Second Prize in Vietnam-Japan Festival singing contest

well you certainly got a good list of ECs going. Class VP is really prestigious (hoping myself to run for that next year). you got leadership positions, so thats good, always try to get more. also, remember it is important that you do something important while you are a club officer.

@phongtheha thanks for your comment in my thread. It was too generous haha (:
Idk about the schools you are applying to so I can’t chance you
I know taking SAT is a torture, but I feel that you can improve on your CR score! Go buy/download Direct Hits Vocabulary – these words are sure to appear in the paper. I did many real SAT practice tests and they helped me to answer 95% of the vocabulary questions. Even in the real test, at least 90% of the vocab tested were ones I recognised from the Direct Hits books. I reckon vocab is the hardest part of CR, since you’re an international student, so scoring 100% on the vocab is sure to bump your scores up like crazy! :D

Will you be retaking the SAT? Because I feel that if you were to retake, then you would be have an awesome chance at these schools (especially if they superscore). By “contribution” are you referring to the amount that you will be paying for tuition and the rest scholarships/loans/grants? And lastly is your GPA technically a 4.4 from a 5.0 scale or…??

@fatimakhan: it is in the 10.0 range. Like i mentioned, it is 8.8 out of 10.0
@econsftw :ikr? in fact, considering I have memorized 3000+ words, i think i am a good vocab student. I rarely make any mistake at all in practice tests. My CR range normally is in the high 600’s, low 700s.
That 560 was from the June one. I did quite well on test day. I have also checked the consolidated answers of the test day and was prepared to see a 650-680. But when that 560 came out, I just couldn’t (and still cant) believe in my eyes. Seriously i just dont know what happened

@phongtheha maybe u shaded the wrong circles! Btw the answers online are not always correct cos when I checked mine with the shared google docs online I thought I had 3-4 wrong but in my score report I only had 2 wrong

@phongtheha I think you should. You’re probably still hung up on that score and wondering what you did wrong. If you get a manual rescore, maybe you might get a higher mark. It depends on whether you think it’s worth it. Otherwise, I’d just study harder and hopefully get 700s in CR

I don’t know how you being international and needing aid will affect your chances, so I’m going to do this as if it’s solely based on your other factors. You might want to ask someone who knows more about how the financial aspect will work.

St. Olaf College (ED) - slight reach, but you have much better chances going ED
Villanova (EA) - reach
Denison - match / low match
Dickinson(EA) - slight reach
Gettysburg - match / high match
Providence( EA) - match
Clark University(EA) - match (?) (dont know much about the school)

Idk about these schools but your resume looks fantastic. What do you want to major in? You stated you wanted suggestions but without stating an interest. I’ll give a few regardless.

If you like small student bodies (which I’m assuming from the lac’s)- Case Western Reserve University (research university in Cleveland but only about 4,000 undergraduates, great in STEM, Buisness, Nursing and English. High med school acceptance) & Kalamazoo College (lac w/ very high med school acceptance).

If you don’t mind big schools and are undecided- University of Michigan & UC Berkeley (may be a reach but these schools are strong in everything, plus Ann Arbor & Berkeley are really cool places).
