Chance me...Will chance back

International (Indian)
Applying For- Computer Science
Scores:
SAT- 2160 (M-800,CR-720,W-640..essay-8)...will retake though

10th: 9.2/10
11th: 96%(class topper)

My scores were bad in 9th and 10th because I shamefully sucked at my mother tongue(Hindi),and managed to get B2 in it on both occasions...I have straight A's on maths and science(now Physics and Chemistry) through High School

Essays:
Pretty good I guess ( Over how I overcame stammering which hampered me for years, its very powerful I would say)

Recommendations:
Excellent

Extracurriculars:

4) Qualified for 2nd stage of NTSE ( India's most prestigious exam and junior level) in 10th grade

5) Played for school U-19 cricket team as wicketkeeper

6) Got 43rd rank all over India at IMO(maths olympiad) conducted my Science Olympiad Foundation(SOF)....its not very prestigious though

7) Can program in C++,Java pretty well(when I say pretty well I mean for a high school student)

Can afford: 40-45k a year(will cover rest with student loan)

Applying to:

1)Stanford
2)Cornell
3)Caltech
4)UC Berkeley
5)MIT
6)UIUC
7)UT Austin
8)Georgia Tech
9)UCLA
10)Purdue

I personally feel my EC's are not as strong as they could be....Please share your views and be honest( I mean if you think I am a weak applicant don't hesitate to tell me that, its much more helpful than fake praises)

BUMP

Let me say this. First, thank you for chancing me.

Second, it is exceptionally tough for an international student to go to the first 5 colleges you listed, and UCLA. It is just so tough. In fact, since UCLA, Caltech, Cornell, MIT, and UC Berkeley are actually sort of good for Computer Science, (I don’t know about the others) you would have an even harder time getting in. To be honest, you really need to improve your SATs, and GPA. However, this could change if you were to go as a recruited athlete in Tennis, since you said you played for your state, and on the national team. That would be a game-changer.

To go into UIUC, UT Austin, Gerogia Tech, and Purdue will still be tough, since you are out of state, but I feel that those are the places that you stand the best chances at, out of all of the schools you listed.

To address your ECs: I feel that they are the biggest thing going for you. In fact, your test scores are the main things that are bothering me right now.

Let me suggest this to you: How about UC Irvine, Carnegie Mellon University, Cal Poly SLO, or Cal Poly Pomona, for computer science? These are all excellent for computer science. In fact, I’ve heard that Carnegie Mellon is ranked number 1 in computer science, and Cal Poly SLO/UC Irvine are pretty much right up there with the likes of MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, etc for computer science. An additional bonus is that these are much easier to get into than the top 5 ones you mentioned.

@IAmTheGOAT‌ My scores are bad as in SAT scores or my grades?

PS: Also I know the first 5 are reaches…I am hopeful about the last 5

I meant SAT scores, but your SAT 2 scores are great. And your SAT scores aren’t bad. They just are on the lower side. However, a handful of people have gotten into those top colleges with that score.

@IAmTheGOAT‌ thanks…i’ll be retaking it though…and all the best to you

BUMP

1)Stanford-reach
2)Cornell-reach
3)Caltech-reach
4)UC Berkeley-reach
5)MIT-reach
6)UIUC-not sure
7)UT Austin-low reach/high match
8)Georgia Tech-match?
9)UCLA-reach
10)Purdue-match

I agree with the person above that your SAT scores a little low for the most competitive schools and especially as an international student. Are you planning on retaking?
On the other hand, your ECs are amazing so you should have a really good shot of getting into some of the other schools.

chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1700572-chance-me-please-will-chance-back.html#latest</a></p>

Your EC’s are great, I just think that you would need more of a variety. Although your SAT scores are good, they would be average/below when compared to the other students who are applying to get into the same school. You had perfect scores on the SAT Subject Tests and I believe that would help a little bit, considering the fact that you plan on majoring in Computer Science. Overall I think you have around 60% chance of getting in to most of the schools.

1)Stanford- high reach
2)Cornell- reach
3)Caltech- match
4)UC Berkeley- reach
5)MIT- high reach (My friend got in full scholarship and scored almost a perfect on the SATs and he was really involved in a variety of clubs)
6)UIUC- i don’t know
7)UT Austin-low reach/high match
8)Georgia Tech- match (I just competed at a conference there, and the students told me about this Super Duper score thing where they convert your ACT and SAT scores together and you get the highest score possible)
9)UCLA- match
10)Purdue- match

^^^^^^

 • Please chance me back!

@IAmTheGOAT‌ @flhsstudent‌ @ws62497‌ Edit retook the SAT and am expecting near 2300…I don’t think I made any mistakes in writing this time (unlike last time, when I was unsure of 6 and ended up with 7 mistakes)… So, does that make any difference in the overall application?..My super score would atleast cross 2250 and at best 2300+…
