Basically wondering chances for each. I WILL CHANCE BACK! Would Cornell ED have more chances or Duke?
Purdue would be a very high match.
UCI/UCSB: Match
UCSD/USC: High Match
Rest of the schools???
@Gumbymom Thanks for the chance! I really hope my course rigor will be taken into account for my low GPA. I really want to go to USC and UCI, is there anyway I can improve my chances for USC, like Duke has Robertson Scholars to demonstrate interest. Is there anything similar for USC? Or any scholarship options?
I think your GPA is low for Duke and Cornell.
@DrGoogle thanks for the feedback, but would it still be low if I demonstrated interest by applying to Robertson scholars and ED, or for Cornell ED? Should I not waste the fee or is it worth trying?
Demonstrated interest by applying ED is a interesting concept. Can your family afford to pay if you were accepted ED? IMO, you are wasting your application. You should apply to Georgia Tech and WUSTL.
I think you have a really good shot at a UCSD and UCI and the other UCs. Not so sure about USC because your scores are low. But you are not wasting your application there.
You have a very good chance of getting into Purdue; however, duke and Cornell might be reach schools. Your sat score is weighing you down a little bit. Chance back?!

@DrGoogle What should I be aiming for in order to get into USC? And what are your thoughts on WUSTL? If nothing, then where could I ED and money is not really an issue.
Maybe WUSTL. In the past, my daughter has a friend that as accepted there with lowered GPA than hers, maybe lowered then 3.5 uwGPA. But this was a few years back, 2007 time frame.
Purdue is also good because it has rolling admission. You know the result by Oct or Nov.
@DrGoogle where do you think I have a low-mid reach at ED. I think I can get into WUSTL without ED.
@DrGoogle What about Northwestern? Do you think I have a shot at ED at Northwestern?
No. It’s pretty hard for kids at our local high school even a few years back. It’s just a tad less selective than the Ivies and Duke but still harder for California kids.
Is there a reason why northwestern is harder for California kids? Any other recommendations looking into rice. @DrGoogle
I think one of the UC’s will be your landing spot
I don’t know, it’s what on the naviance. I don’t know if I know of the real reason. But 2-3 acceptances but the accepted students didn’t attend Northwestern.IIRC.
@DrGoogle how Can I use naviance?
Does your school have naviance?
