UVA
Virginia Tech
VCU
University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign (UIUC)
U of Michigan
Boston University

Hi! I am currently a junior in a competitive school in Virginia (saying this because my GPA is very deflated). I’d really like to get into an instate school, but I’m thinking about out of state like UT Austin, and Boston University.

Current Cumulative GPA (up till sophomore year)
WEIGHTED (5.0 scale) : 3.945
UNWEIGHTED (4.0 scale): 3.54

SAT (2400): haven’t taken yet but I’m anticipating above 2200
PSAT (2015): 1510/1520 (760 english, 750 math)
SAT II Math II: 770
SAT II Biology: 740
AP Calculus AB: 5
AP Biology: 3

Current APs: APUSH, AP Calculus BC, AP Macro/Micro, AP Chemistry
Senior Classes: AP Gov, AP Psych, AP Statistics, Geosystems, AP English Lang,

Extra Curricular:

  1. 2 summers in Internship at Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP), where I did my own research and helped out with my mentor’s as well. This was before my junior year and I am planning and coming back this summer as well.
  2. 2 years of Amnesty International Historian (junior)
  3. 3 years of Relay for Life
  4. 6 years of Model UN
  5. National Honor Society
  6. 10 years of Indian Classical Dance
  7. 7 years of piano

@readyornot1 Idk about other schools on your list so I can’t comment. But I live in TX and UT Austin is very very competitive…the reason being that they have an automatic admission policy (top 7 or 8% of class rank for TX schools are automatically accepted) so that takes up a lot of slots. But since you’re out of state, perhaps you have a better chance? Also, I hear they have a really really good business program… so that’s very difficult to get into even if you are accepted into the university. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help to you…

On another note, your PSAT score is very very high so perhaps you will be a NMSF and that can score you a nice scholarship. Can you give me your SI (selection index)? We are conducting a forum and collecting people’s SI’s scores to estimate state cutoff’s for NMSF’s. Thanks and good luck to you.

Test scores look like they should be excellent, course rigor looks excellent as well. GPA is on the lower end for the schools UMICH especially is hard to get into OOS. Overall I would say assuming you get your test scores above 2200 like you think you can you’ll get into all the schools in Virginia, BU, and UIUC UMich could be a potential fit but as I said it’s very competitive OOS no matter how qualified you are. UT Austin is competitive as well out of state but I think if you can get that 2200+ you’re in. Best of luck!
