Senior course load: AP English Lit & Comp, AP US Gov't & Politics, AP Psychology, Calculus & Statistics Honors, Spanish IV Honors, French III

Prospective Major: English and/or Secondary Education

Recommendations: from English & Spanish teachers I had last year, I'm on really good terms with both of them. My English teacher personally told me her rec was glowing and I'm sure both will be excellent.

Essay: Wrote about diversity & growing up in a predominantly white town, but with a bit of a twist. It's not as cliche as it sounds. I've had tons of people (English teachers, family, friends, etc.) read it and I've been told it's a very strong piece.

Extracurriculars:
- Dance - 11 yrs, 4 yrs in Senior Company, my studio's performing company. My studio does full-length ballets (Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, etc.) each year for our winter and spring recitals and I've had lead and supporting roles in them since 8th grade. Each fall and winter we perform at local nursing homes and senior citizen centers for community service.
- NHS member
- Key Club officer
- Piano (9 yrs)
- Tutor at local elementary school
- Peer tutor at my school

National French Exam - French II - placed 8th nationwide, 6th in state

Schools I am applying to:
Boston College
Boston University
UConn
Connecticut College
Tufts
McGill
UVM
Providence College

and possibly NYU and George Washington. Thanks!

Here are the minumun stats for acceptance to McGill Arts for American students:
[Admissions standards for previous years | Undergraduate Admissions - McGill University](http://www.mcgill.ca/undergraduate-admissions/counsellors-and-advisors/united-states/admissions-standards-previous-years)
Your SAT scores do not meet the minumum, nor does your ACT.

Do you know what the difference is between the admissions minima and the minimum test scores (below that table)? I’m kind of confused.

Minima is the plural form of minimum.
You have an excellent chance at everywhere except at BC, Tufts, UConn and NYU, which your test scores are slighty lacking in.

@madteacups: The minimum scores at the bottom of the McGill website are for programs that do not have higher admission requirements. The list by faculty and program above it show the minimum stats for the more selective programs, which now include most programs.

I advise that you consider retaking SAT and focusing on your critical reading plus math scores. Your CR + Math is only 1250. Most schools only look at those as opposed to writing score.

@HelloNelly ah, thanks! And I actually just got into UConn yesterday, thanks though.

@tomofboston that explains a lot, thank you!

update - accepted to UVM and Uconn!

chance me for the others? bump.

I know a student from McGill who grew up in Boston, and his stats are not as good as yours. So hang in there.

BC, NYU, McGill and Connecticut College are reaches but the others are seemingly good fits. Congrats on Uconn!
My sister got into Mcgill with a 2100 sat and 3.5 gpa
chance back?

Tufts, BC, McGill and NYU are reaches. GW is so-so.
BU can be considered match/safety. I’m not sure about Providence and Conn College, since I’m not familiar with their requirements.

Congrats with getting into UConn and UVM!
