I want to get to a good school preferably elite. What are my chances of getting into one? Also, please list some schools I can go to that are pretty good. I live in Illinois and highest tuition to pay each year is 22.5k.

There are more clubs but I listed the more important ones. I have 90 hours of community service too.

With your current scores and GPA, I would say “elite” is not an option. However, there are plenty of good schools you could go to. What are you looking for in a school? Size, location, area of study?

With your stats admission to any “elite” schools is out of reach.

Even if you could argue that your school is very competitive and no one has a 4.0 and your freshmen year messed up your GPS, your test scores don’t look like an elite school is a realistic goal.

I want to be an orthodontist and go to a school that is well known if that makes sense? Any suggestions?

I want to be an orthodontist so I have to major in biology ro chemistry in an undergrad school. And a school near Illinois, size doesn’t matter, and study biology or neuroscience if possible.

And I guess I should’ve cleared it. I shouldn’t have said elite like Stanford, Amherst, etc. I meant a well known school if that’s a better way of putting it.

In-state schools are a good idea to find lower cost options.

Your ACT is much better than your SAT, so I would focus on that. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a low reach with your current GPA and ACT, but it could be doable, especially if you improve your GPA and scores before senior year. The University of Illinois at Chicago and at Springfield would be good matches.

Keep in mind that admission to dental school is competitive, and you will have to excel in college to have a chance at admission. Continuing on like you have in high school is not going to cut it.

Edit: Also, putting your full name in your posts is not a good idea.

How do I edit that out?

@jibriel - Please don’t put a link to your thread at the bottom of another thread. If you want to chance someone and ask them to chance you back that is OK but don’t post to a thread without having anything to say about that topic. I seen you have put your link on the bottom of multiple unrelated threads.

Alright, sorry. @123Mom456

I think if you work hard, and raise your grades and SAT scores you should have a good shot at GWU. Northwestern, however is a huge stretch.

Northwestern is completely out of reach. So is Penn State main campus and GWU.

Want to get a list starting early.

I am trying to raise my gpa by junior year to a 3.33. Do you think I can get into UIUC, IIT, Penn State, George Washington University, Missouri, U if M Twin Cities, or Northwstern (mom works there and my aunt)?

@TomSrOfBoston If I bring my gpa up to a 3.33 gpa by end of jr year and get a good act or sat score do you think pen state or GWU can be achievable? I did email GWU and Northwestern.

I don’t think GWU is out of reach, it really also depends on what courses you took. A 3.0 with lots of AP/IBs and Honors is better than a 3.0 with regular classes. What major do you intend on applying to? If your school uses “naviance” you should really go on there and compare your stats with past applicants and see where you fall. It’s all relative. Lots of other factors are deciders in your application (Letters of rec, supplements, essay, how your activities motivate you…etc). Also Penn state isn’t is not out of reach as well. I would highly recommend you talk to your counselor and ask for past stats of people who were accepted into these colleges and compare yourself. Your ACT is within the range of accepted students for GWU (27-30) and for Penn state as well (25-29). But I would recommend you take hard courses, get involved in leadership in all your clubs, form good relationships with teachers, take the ACT again to get higher, and try to increase your GPA! Good luck! Nothing is definite, don’t be discouraged, your stats could get you an admission, just work harder junior year!

If you raise your GPA in your Junior year and your ACT is over 29, you have a good chance of being admitted to Illinois Tech in Biology.

What about UIUC at DGS or LAS? With my current stats?

It’s a reach for UIUC. Your stats are in the bottom 25% for LAS and for DGS you just sneak into the middle 50%.
