Wesleyan
UMichigan
UWisconsin
Penn (Wharton--seems appropriate considering business)

Chance me and I'll chance you! I know nearly all of these are reaches but hopefully I can gain some perspective from your critiques!

**EDIT: These Schools tend to accept kid from my school, even those with low scores, a friend of mine got into Cornell with an 1800 SAT (White dude) That might add some persepctive!

bump bump bump. Anything?

You’re right in that your test scores are on the weaker side for those schools, but I think your GPA, difficult curriculum, and extracurriculars give you a chance. Depending on how good your essays and recommendations are, you might have a decent chance even though you’re applying to tough schools. Don’t count yourself out!

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/851946-chances-uva-w-m-george-washington.html

I feel like I accomplished nothing in 4 years…thanks.

As for your comment on Stanford, those business related EC’s are definitely a plus to Stanford, my friend (of Pakistani descent) got into Stanford with a 3.7 UW GPA being a California Resident and having an SAT about 100 points higher than yours. What set him apart was his essay and the fact that he created websites as a business to top foreign corporations along with being an accomplished hacker.

bump bump bump please!

bump. Brutality is appreciated here!

I would have to say that only Stanford, Yale, and U. Penn are debatable – I think you have a good chance, but not something to bet on. As for the other schools, I would be very surprised if you did not get in.

Good luck. :)

I agree with skipblue. The rest of your application is good enough to give you a chance; despite, your low test scores at all of the schools on your list. However, you are applying to some of the most competitive schools. Good luck!

Chance back?:

Update:
Accepted at UWisconsin after two weeks of submitting app. Good signs?

bump

Based on comments/acceptances/rejections posted on this site, I believe you have a chance at all of the schools on your list with Yale being the biggest reach. Stanford and UPenn are tough reads. It depends how they balance test scores vs. EC’s when weighin the applications.

Similar to you, my D was accepted to UW-Madison less than 2 weeks after submitting her application. UW was the last application she submitted (January 29th) and it was the very first to respond. Fortunately, her responses started with an acceptance. The rest are expected mid to late March. We are interested to see if she will look beyond climate when she makes her decision. She likes snow when we have it but that does not happen often and it does not stay long.

Good luck to all.

I think the following schools will be pretty tough reaches given your SATs: Stanford University, UChicago, Yale, Brown, Wesleyan and Penn. I am confident you will get into the others. Be prepared to be wait-listed and some of the reach schools.

I’ve got this to say: Wharton is definitely out of your league with your standardized scores. Let’s just say you’re underestimating the competition. However, your ECs certainly do stand out and I personally find your summers very unique, so that’s a plus :]

UPDATE:
Accepted at Cal

UPDATE:
Accepted at Harvard

this is a joke right?
of course you’re getting in to places! LOOK at those ECs!

Results:
Accepted:
Michigan (Ross)
Johns Hopkins
UC Berkeley
Wisconsin

Waitlisted:
WHARTON!
Brown
Northwestern
Wesleyan
UChicago

Rejected:
Stanford
Yale
Columbia

If I want to be an econ and middle eastern studies major, what is better UCB or JHU? Any advice about waitlists. I plan to push as much as I can for Wharton.

Moral: Just because you have lower test scores doesn’t mean you cant get in somewhere amazing.

UChicago for economics!!

Berkeley without a doubt, its also nice in that if you find there is another major you discover is more enjoyable it is easy to find quality coursework.
