My essays will probably be okay but nothing outstanding. My one rec was probably pretty good and the other was probably generic.

Thanks!

I think you have a very good chance of getting in. Your EC’s aren’t outstanding, but your activity as a boy scout and becoming an Eagle scout will look great, colleges know how much that takes. Your SAT is fantastic and your courseload is definitely rigorous. NMS will help a bit, but not too much. AMC 10 school winner will look good. The only “blemish” is your GPA, which isn’t too high for cornell but i think your SAT and courseload will make up for that. I say around 70%.

While your GPA isn’t fantastic, I think given it puts you in the top 5%, that’s more than good enough. GPA is tricky since some schools grade harder than others. I’ll say 65%. I’m a little nervous that in a class size so large, only 2-3 are going to Ivies each year (assuming you use Ivy to denote any top 15 school).

Thanks guys! And yeah the GPA thing has me a tad nervous. Our school usually sends 3-4 to ivies and they’re usually in the top 10 rank/GPA wise.

bump bump

In.

10char

If your school has a history of sending in top 3-4 to ivies, then you have to see if you are that top 3rd or 4th person of your class who applies to ivies. Unfortunately, statistics aren’t too reliable because colleges generally accept applicants based on their past history of acceptance from that high school.
