i'm one of ten valedictorians in a public school in orange county california (800+ ppl in my grade). in other words, i have flawless grades

Extracurriculers... where i really shine.
I rifle shoot (olympic sport)
I'm the Jr. World Champion... on the US national team, have multiple national records, and planning on going to the olympics. i've done some extensive traveling for it too

other than that my ec's are pretty boring. let's say 150 hrs of volunteer work for relay for life and my library. as well as 70 hrs of work for a firm over the summer

i'm a white jewish girl who lives in the suburbs so i don't bring in the diversity factor but yeah. and the fact my sister got her phd at stanford doesn't count for legacy. so that's about it

If you’ve applied, then there is NO need to be chancing yourself. Seriously. Are you looking for an opportunity to brag? Everyone has impressive stats and experiences here, so it’s not about that.

It’s Stanford. You have acceptable grades and acceptable ECs. But even with great stats, LORs and essays can really make or break a decision. I kind of have to agree with Jason. There’s no point in chancing ANYONE for Stanford.

You obviously have very very solid grades, and you are very strong in your sport. This however is only the first step to getting admitted. Stanford has rejected many 2400 SAT and 5.00 GPAs, but it has also accepted many people below a 2100 and 3.7! As you can see, Stanford is actually quite well known for being a little random in its admissions, and very few have gotten in without having a little luck on their side. I would say that if you hopefully have very strong essays and awards achieved, that would be good. You could have gotten a little more on your EC’s to help you out, but I guess theres no point in crying over spilt milk eh?

Anyways, i found this site good to chance myself. Its called mychances. Check it out. I understand how you are anxious, as I am the same way! Good luck!

Forgot to mention I do a lot of coaching/working around the range training ROTC, boy scouts, or anybody else who wants to learn safe gun handling. :)

You have amazing grades, great rank, high course rigor, very solid SATs, and an awesome passionate EC. Think about this: how many Jewish girls from the suburbs in SoCal do riflle shooting on a national level? That alone might grab some attention for you! I think doing an EC on the national level and exceeding is really important when it comes to a school like Stanford.

The best I guess I can say to “chance” you is to say it’s a low reach, only simply because it is a reach for everybody, but I would not be surprised whatsoever if you got in. The recs and essays should be really important, so I hope those are great! Good luck Keep us updated on what happens!

Oh dear. When people say “nothing could help your app except the Olympics or a Nobel”… XD

I think you have a good chance to get in. Your scores, grades, rigor are all more or less in range, and you’ve got an AMAZING hook. With a good essay and recs, you’ll be in. If not, well, you’ve got a strong chance. I don’t think I’ve ever said anyone was in for Stanford before.

With your grades and SAT scores, I feel like the rifle shooting should get you in. THat is crazy awesome and unique! Obviously, admissions is very difficult to predict, but I think you have a great shot (pun intended) :)
