wjdeougus, do you have any helpful hints about how admissions works? Obviously all the ED people have submitted their apps, but do you have any insight as to when the decisions are totally finished/when they go online/ other fun insider stuff? I understand if you don’t know or can’t say, but it’s fun to hear what’s going on from the inside!

hi, sorry about this again, danielng & benjuang…i applied ED & I already submitted an arts supplement through slideroom…i was just wondering if you knew how much of an edge it gives an applicant or how admissions evaluates it. thanks! (:

From what I know, the decisions are going on peoplesoft

As for “insider tips,” I don’t really know any! I’m not an admission officer, so I don’t really know anything besides that the Class of 2015 will be a very, very strong and interesting class. So if any of you should make the ED cut, kudos to you, and party it on!

The arts supplement is just an extra dimension of you as an applicant. It’s always great to see students who are so academically motivated playing musical instruments/ pursuing other artsy passions in their lives. The faculty rates the material from a scale of 1~9 (I think), and the score is passed onto the admission committee and is considered in your admission decision as a whole.

There really isn’t a formula for this, and I’m sure you all have heard this countless times. Just relax, do your best to not be fake, and you all should be set!

Good luck until the end of your admission process!

Dan – I know your post says “Chance me,” but in all honesty, you never know what can happen. Having read through your stats, I’ll say you’ve got just as much chance as anybody else. One thing to keep in mind, something that I feel is really important to admissions here at Williams (and probably anywhere else!!) is not whether your SAT, GPA, essays, ECs, etc. are stellar (though those things are important too), but how well you would fit into the school atmosphere. And it’s amazing how you can really sense who a person IS through all those components… which should also put you at ease, one area’s being a little weaker can be made up by another stronger point. Just take it from me: you’ve done your part now, so just busy yourself and remember that no matter what happens, you’re going to end up somewhere amazing and be amazingly happy. Try not to rehash your application too much, it’s already submitted and thinking about it and wondering if it was strong enough isn’t going to change anything. It will only make you more nervous, trust me. Sit tight!! My sister is playing the same waiting game you are right now so I think it’s fair to say we’re probably all on pins and needles!! But I think you’ll be fine. Best wishes!!!
