Closing thoughts and commentary...

I am an enthusiastic participant in everything I do and also well-rounded. I think a possible weakness in my application would be the lack of "well-known" activities (I opted not to participate in clubs like MUN because I held no profound interest, and my school does not have a NHS.)

Please chance me realistically! This is mostly to gauge what my chances are compared to the rest of the (virtual) world out there and will not discourage me in any way. So be constructively critical please :)

Forgot to include SAT II’s:

Math II 800
Chemistry 800
Physics 800
Literature 750

Since you’re legacy, that ups your chances. I think you have a great chance at getting in, although your GPA is a little lower than I would like it to be. However, you clearly have taken a rigorous curriculum, so it should be fine.

I was going to say “you have an excellent shot!” before the above poster pointed out you were a legacy. So here is my modified response:

In. Princeton is a safe match for you. I’d guess >80% chance of admission. Good work! And I hope you choose to come here since you will likely receive offers from many other top schools.

Your weak UW GPA is going to be the only thing holding you back. What is your UW GPA without freshman year grades? Princeton looks mainly at grades from 10th-12th grade first semester.

Without my freshman year grades, my UW GPA is roughly the same. My W GPA would be lower, though. I heard that beyond a certain GPA, it no longer becomes a big factor for admission, so I hoped the my GPA was good enough…

I forgot to include a 35 ACT score.

The admissions process is too unpredictable for someone to say that you are 80% in, although you certainly appear to be on target.

Bear in mind that everyone is ranked 50% on academics and 50% on non-academics. Your academic side is easy to evaluate. The non-academic side is never easy for the admissions office to evaluate.

Think about how you can make it obvious that you would stand out as top 1% on the non-academic side, even if your grades were average (which they obviously are not). Think beyond teacher recommendations, because everyone has great recommendations. Anyone can write an essay in which they describe themselves as great, so a great essay won’t do it.

Make it as easy as possible for the admissions office to evaluate you, and make it clear that you stand out. If your art portfolio is smashing, by all means make sure that you get it into a format that can be evaluated. If you have anything else that clearly differentiates you, get it in front of them. The more you can do to demonstrate that you are fantastic on the non-academic side, the better shot you’ll have - and you want that shot to be as close to 100% as possible.

Hope you make it - for all I know, one of your parents was a classmate.
