If you had applied regular decision, I would say that with your grades/act scores that your chances were some-what slim. HOWEVER, because you applied Early Decision 1, I think that you have a much better chance. With any school that you apply to, applying Early Decision always gives you a better chance of getting in. I wouldn’t count it out and say that you won’t get in because you totally have a chance, but most certainly have a back up plan in the event that you don’t get in. Good Luck!

Applying ED does not significantly improve the chances for marginal applicants (I don’t know if the OP is one). The ED and RD applicant pools are quite different. The ED pool is highly self-selecting, with a high percentage of applicants who would have been admitted RD. The RD pool includes many more “reach” apps because so many can be sent to many schools, but only one “reach” app can be sent at ED time, making the ED acceptance rate appear higher for most apps.

At the same time, it’s been observed that that stats of an applicant who applied ED and was accepted are, on average, lower than those of someone who applied regularly. Perhaps recruited athletes and such distort the data, but the connection is still quite clear.

And to stay on-topic, the OP’s test scores will make GW a bit of reach. Definitely not impossible (esp. with a good rank), but there is much to be desired in his/her application.
