<p>I'm in the 9th grade and I'm applying to Hotchkiss, Andover, Exeter, Deerfield, Groton, and Lawrenceville for the 10th grade.</p>

<p>Classes:
Honors English- A+
PE- A
Chinese 2- A
Honors Biology- A
Honors Geometry- A+
Speech and Debate- A</p>

<p>SSAT: 96% (Darn. I wish I had time to retake it.)</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
Policy Debate (6 hours/week)
Extemp and Impromptu Speech (4 hours/week)
Badminton (team) JV (4 hours/week)
Dance (Ballet, Jazz, and Hip hop) (2 hours/week)
Art (Oil, Watercolor, Calligraphy, Still Life, Chinese painting, Digital Art) (4 hours/week)
Goe (2 hours/week)</p>

<p>Interests:
Debate (my primary interest. my school is a member of the National Forensics League.), Art (8 years exp), Photography, Badminton, Goe, Language (I've learned Spanish and French. I am currently learning Chinese, and I plan to go on to German, Latin and Russian after I'm done with Chinese.), Philosophy (I love Foucault, Nietzsche, and Rorty. I read a lot of their books.)</p>

<p>Awards:
Three debate awards from tournaments (which is very good considering I'm in my first year)
Two goe awards from tournaments
A bunch of miscellaneous academic school awards that probably mean nothing outside of my school</p>

<p>Interviews:
Done with Hotchkiss, it went really well. The interviews should all run smoothly.</p>

<p>Recs:
Should be amazing, my teachers are all extremely fond of me.</p>

<p>Other stuff:
I've added a portfolio of my artwork and photography.
And something to know about me is that I'm in a deep and devoted relationship with speech and debate. I dream about it, cry about it (happily of course), and think about it even in the shower. It could be either a good thing or a bad thing. I also harbor a very similar fascination with philosophy. But I'm still very willing to try new things.
Oh, and unfortunately, I'm pretty lacking in the community service department.</p>

<p>I'm Asian, if that affects anything. I guess something that would make me different from other Asians is that I'm terrible at music and can't play any instruments. (...That's probably a bad thing.) I'm not that fond of math and science either...</p>

<p>community service for me has been lacking a bit lately as well. i used to do it alot back when i was younger but now im too caught up in school work and sports really :/</p>

<p>we do have a lot of great community service at my school though…im not sure if that counts</p>

<p>what kind of school do you go to now? straight a’s at a low public school is different than straight a’s at a competitive private school.</p>

<p>sabretoothtt: Good point. I go to a normal public school right now. However, I have attended one of the nation’s best public schools (I transferred out for a better forensics program) and scored in the A to B+ range.</p>

<p>^Edit: I mean unfairly academically competitive. It’s actually very lacking everywhere else. Just based on class levels though, it was very hard.</p>

I mean, it’s not my top choice, but I am still curious. I applied because it was the only boarding school my mother approves of.</p>
