Chance Me?

I know 2013 sounds like it's far away for some but Junior year is coming fast so I personally need to see my options.

Starting next year I will be in the IB Programme in Florida. Currently my unweighted GPA is a 3.8, having my weighted GPA at 4.5. By the end of Senior Year I should have roughly 200+ service hours, graduate by being involved in school clubs, such as National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Beta Club, Best Buddies and InterACT. In addition I will have a total of 5 years studying the French language.

So should I apply for this school based on what I said? I'm guessing I would have to see what my SAT or ACT scores are.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Does your school rank? If so, what is your ranking? That and test scores are very important.

My class rank, as of the beginning of the 2nd Semester, was 12th.

^12th out of how many students?

In the mean time, try to bump up your GPA to ~3.85 and do well on the SAT. I would think you would need 2100 or higher on the SAT to be very competitive and over 2000 to give yourself a shot. PM me if you want my stats. I got in as an international though and not out-of-state.

Hook 'Em!

12 out of 564. I got 2K+ kids in my high school. And this year I slacked off a bit but I’m ready for the next 2 years and confident for my Test Scores (Perfect scores on CPT Math section and 79 in PSAT Math, but gotta work on Reading =/)

Great! Your rank is excellent. See if you can get higher because getting an even better rank never hurts!

Judging from your PSAT score, I think you have a great shot at 800M on the SAT. I think I got 69(?) on PSAT Math and I got 770, so with a 79 starting point, 800 should be very attainable. Try to work on your reading because I think UT only looks at M and CR (correct me if I’m wrong anyone!). Direct Hits Vol.1 and Vol.2 are great for vocab. I also used PR Hit Parade on top of those two and I tried to learn every word that I didn’t know on practice SAT tests. As for the passages themselves, play Devil’s Advocate and look for reasons why an answer is wrong instead of why it’s right. This helped me out a lot. Strong answers (never, always, etc.) are most likely wrong.

Great test scores and a great rank get your foot in the door. All you need now is a couple good essays and to highlight your ECs nicely on your app and you should definitely get in!
