Chance me?

My major will most likely be economics while studying one or two languages and probably taking math classes.

-superscore: 2300 (700/800/800)
GPA:
-3.98 on a 4.3 UW scale (A+=4.3, A=4.0, A-=3.7, etc.) not sure what it would be on a 4.0 because its not just a simple conversion. I'd have to go through all my grades and edit it. At some point I'll do that, but not now
- 4.50 on a 5.3 W scale
Senior schedule:

Northwestern has been one of my top schools, so I MIGHT apply early decision. IF not, it's because I want to apply early action to more schools, but their programs are restrictive early action.

If I like my visit to NU in july, ill probably apply early decision. What are my chances if ED?

121 views but not a single person can let me know if I have a chance? lol

I think you’ve got a good shot. Commitment to solid ECs, and a good GPA. You’re competitive.

As a fellow publications editor, would you like to give me some advice?
I can’t fit Yearbook in my schedule for next year. The only way I’d be able to do it would mean dropping AP French. Would it be ridiculous to ask my adviser if I can have an Independent Study for it? I’m co-EiC, so do you think he’ll think that would like now allow me to live up to my “leadership” title? I’m in a serious bind here!

^ *“now” should be “not”

Well at my school it doesn’t take up a class, we do it during lunch and after school. I think it would definitely be worth asking if you can have an independent study for it. I’m getting screwed out of one of my classes too, and will probably end up taking that class at the local community college and then taking the AP test - maybe you could do this if you end up having to drop AP French.

Thanks for the chance and best of luck with your yearbook bind!

Hahaha thanks for your advice! Yeah, I come in at lunch/after school all the time too, so it’s not like I’m not committed.

When do you take these CC classes? Do you have to pay for them?

I’m not sure - I have to look into it. Tomorrow I’m checking if there are any other classes I could take the periods I have space for but if it’s just some BS A-level class then I’ll have to look into my CC. But I would assume it’s just a regular CC class whenever it would normally be and I guess I would have to pay. Not totally sure

If you were to take a CC class, would you have to do it on your own time (i.e., after school)? And do you know how long they run?

well i looked up the classes at my local CC and there are either classes offered on Monday for 3 hours or on monday and wednesday for 1:15. After school, yes. I’m not sure what my program with the HS is… I know there is like a high school “Challenger” program I just have to talk to my GC about it. She told me that colleges would rather see APs at the high school, but the only other APs are Psych (doesn’t fit into my schedule), arts (not happening), and sciences (ehh) but I really am interested in statistics, but cant fit it in.

Aww man! What science is available to you? I think stats could be cool too, but I only have room for calc so yeah.

Well I have to check the periods and how they work out…but AP Chem, AP Bio, and AP environmental science. Honors classes: Marine Bio, genetics, astronomy, org. chem, anal. chem., stuff like that. I would rather take AP environmental science though. I’ve heard its easy, but literally the smartest andm ost hardest working kid I know said that AP chem is impossible. If I cant fit in environmental then i’ll probably end up taking some crap class one period, one study, and one or two classes at CC (stats and intro to a language - Italian or German).

No AP Physics?!? And yeah I heard environmental is easy. Chem’s hard at your school? At mine Chem is considered like the easiest (aside from environmental) and bio’s by far the hardest. What do you want to go into?

Well there is AP physics but I have to take physics H first so that won’t be happening. Should’ve doubled up…

Well I’m planning on going into economics with a focus in math and foreign languages, which is why I would rather take stat or a language or both at CC than another random science or business class at HS.

were you born in 1992? if so, you’re too old to be in high school!

hahhah no - 1993. Still not sure why I use 92 for everything…just a number I like.

Yanks not that you care but I just found out I may lose my editor position! :(

Nooooo don’t lose you can do it!

I hope so!

How would you lose it?
