Hi i just wanted to know if i have a realistic shot at getting accepted if i were to apply in the spring. I would be applying out-of-state, i have an associates degree in computer science from a NJ community college. My GPA is close to a 3.0 give or take. I would be transferring with 60 something credits

Benjimon, it is hard to say based on the very limited information you have provided us. The University of California system requires all out of state transfer applicants to have a minimum GPA of 3.0. If you do not have at least a 3.0, you are not even qualified to apply for a transfer. And even if you have a 3.0, you are not guaranteed admissions; the average GPA of transfer students admitted to UC in 2010 was 3.3. If you have at least a 3.0, you should apply and see what happens.

says 2.8

[Out of State Students](http://trc.ucr.edu/transferPaths/Pages/OutofStateStudents.aspx)

Sorry Benjimon, I did not mean to mislead you. The minimum GPA requirement for out of state students was 3.0 for the University of California a few years ago. It is difficult to judge whether or not you have a legitimate chance at getting into UCR, since on one hand, UCR is becoming more selective and you’re not very competitive based on your GPA, but on the other hand, UCs are increasing its amount of out-of-state admissions. If you write an outstanding personal statement, then you may have a chance at being accepted into UCR or UCM.

The University of California website used to have its freshman/transfer admission stats published online. The statistics included the number of acceptances for transfers, the area in which the transfer students are coming from, and so on. I tried looking for those tables for last year but was unable to find it.

They don’t take applications in the Spring. You have to wait until November of this year for 2012 Fall entrance.

The UC system takes applications for the Fall quarter/semester and Winter quarter/Spring semester. I believe the online application system is not opened to any one at the moment, but I’m sure the OP realized that if he attempted to file an online application recently.

Here are some important dates that you should be aware of if you plan to apply:

October: Application opens for fall 2011.
Nov. 1-30: Filing period for fall 2011. Applications must be submitted by
11:59 p.m. Nov. 30.
Jan. 1: Filing period opens for GPA Verification Form (required of California
residents for Cal Grant consideration) and Free Application for Federal
Student Aid.
April: Notification of fall 2011 admission decisions.
March 2: Deadline for applicants for all terms to submit FAFSA and GPA
Verification Form.
June 1: Deadline for fall 2011 admitted transfer students to submit Statement of
Intent to Register to chosen campus.
July 1-31: Filing period for winter quarter/spring semester 2012.
July 15: Final official transcripts due at campus admissions offices for students
admitted for fall 2011.

Actually, I think Merced is the only one currently accepting applications for Spring Semester.

nah DarkPrince. Scribbs is right, only Meced is. that schedule is based on availability. Other UC’s are beyond full to accept other terms.

they like out of state students because you guys have to pay more.
