[*] What would you have done differently?:[/ul] Should have tried HARDER

I think ur academics are fine (assuming that those AP scores are mostly 4s and 5s). Your tough socioeconomic conditions is definitely a hook, make sure you get your couselor to comment on your situation so admission officers can see the extent of your struggles. At the same time, however, I would assume admission officers would want to see more work experience on your resume, especially b/c of your socioeconomic condition (they would respect you a lot of you work like 15-20 + hours a week to help your family). Work hard on your essays, keep building strong relationships with teachers senior year, keep doing your best, GL man

I did consider getting a job, but chose not to because my dad told me that if i spend that time studying or helping my younger siblings, it will be a bigger investment. I basically tutor/help 4 of my younger sibs and do chores/errand since dad’s gone from 8 am to 11 pm.

Also, do people have senior year teachers write recommendation letters?

you have good chance

@sali, okay, make sure admission officers know all that. It will definitely give you an edge, since you have all those extracurricular responsibilities on top of your studies and still able to maintain such good academics. Also, absolutely, most times people get junior teachers who they were on good terms with, but I have also seen people get one or even both recs from senior year teachers. Don’t feel like you can’t get a senior teacher to write you a rec just because it doesn’t feel like “the norm.” If you have a really strong relationship with a senior year teacher and you feel they would write a better rec/represent you in a better light than your junior teachers, definitely consider having him/her write a rec for you

AP Scores
Eng Lang-5
Psychology- 4 (our school does it in 1 semester, and i took it 2nd semester, so that’s minus 1 more month)
Chem- 4 (2nd year having the class for our teacher. should have done some independent)
Calc BC- 5
Spanish- 4 (surprised, haha)
Euro- 5

I’m happy, considering I had AP, SAT, volleyball, all going on around this time.
