Anybody have any idea of my chances??
Thanks!

You have a great GPA, and interesting ECs that demonstrate commitment, but what is your SAT score breakdown (M-R-W)? Your overall SAT score is above the AU median, but your intended major will be a factor in terms of individual school expectations.

So, what are you interested in studying at Auburn?

Well, i will be taking the SAT over again… and the ACT for the first time soon.
but the break down is
Reading:500
Math:570
Writing:560

I want to study Environmental architecture and design/interior architecture.

Thank you so much for replying!! that gave me a little confidence boost :)

Also, i am strongly considering applying with Early action. do you think thats a good idea? or should i wait for regular admission?

Since you aren’t trying to get in the engineering school or COSAM, that’s in your favor. But, your math and reading scores are actually below the median (was hoping that your weakest was writing) Since you are OOS, your scores need to go up. The following link is very helpful to prospective students – it’s to the AU office of institutional research common data set – the CDS is always a great resource for understanding what a university is looking for in their students.:

https://oira.auburn.edu/factbook/enrollment/newstudents/possass.aspx

This particular link will take you directly to SAT score stats. Links to other stats are in the left-hand nav. Having an idea of these numbers gives you more information for setting your own personal goals.

The architecture and design programs are good at AU and pretty competitive, so you either need to retake the SAT, or work very hard in preparation for your ACT. You may find you are more of an ACT test taker anyway. I know my D found this test to be her strongest (though she said the math section was very long.) While AU uses either standardized tests for admission, I think they are more ACT-centric, if you know what I mean.

It sounds like you have a pretty rigorous schedule – that’s good, and you have strong grades. You can apply early admission if you want, but early selection is based solely on academic criteria (per the AU admissions website). They take a more holistic approach to your application for regular admission. If you’re concerned about needing more time in order to send your best standardized score(s), then consider waiting until regular admission. You can also keep sending scores until the final date.
Good luck and have a great senior year!

You may also want to view the College of Arch, Design and Construction site on how admissions are handled. They do not have Environmental Design and no one is admitted into Interior Arch until after Soph year. You would begin in Pre-Arch and then after Freshman year be considered an Arch major. Imwillmfind an old thread where we discussed how they are admitted and post it. Check the web page too just to makemsure things have not changed.
Good Luck! Our daughter LOVES Auburn and is praying that one of her younger triplet brothers also choses it if they are admitted(they will be seniors this coming year too).

Auburn Acceptances
I currently have a child in the Auburn Foundation Unit program - loving it! They began with 28, 3 are not continuing after this past semester and 2 were not retained for Spring - leaving 23 in the Foundation Program.
Summer Option Program (summer AFTER Freshman year) – not sure of the numbers, but usually 100-120 students for 1st summer (6 weeks), they retain around 60 for 2nd summer (6 weeks) and then approximately 30 move on for Sophomore year with the ones that completed Foundation Unit.
SOOOO many students really were not aware of the whole workings of this even though it is all over the CADC web site in various places.
For those of you accepted or applying: CADC - College of Architecture, Design and Construction - read about first year admission. You are in Architecture, but it has not been determined which unit you will be in. Some students were surprised when they went to orientation.

Also, for any wishing to see a glimpse of one aspect of the program, make sure to read up on the Rural Studio. They have rec’d a lot of recognition this year because of this program - they have a display at MOMA, a PBS documentary “Citizen Architect” which was wonderful. “Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio”

I have to say I have had moments I have wondered why I would even let my child major in Architecture - not because of concern about a job in the future, but more for their sanity because of the demands. However, I can see what she has already gotten out of the program which I am not sure happens at every school. Their final project was a group project - all 28 working together and amazing results that came out of it. They had times I am sure they could not stand each other, but the respect they gained for each other cannot be duplicated in any other manner. They learned to work with each other vs. some programs where they compete against each other.

If anyone has questions, wants more info or would even like info on this final project which was tied in with the South’s Best Robotics Regional Finals please feel free to private message me. The info she has passed on is too much to put on here!
