What’s your budget? As an OOS student, U of Michigan will likely offer you zero financial aid beyond the federal grants and loans. DePaul and American do not guarantee to meet full need, meaning that you could be significantly gapped.

my parents make <60k a year so there is going to be absolutely no money to help me it all has to come from scholarships/loans etc.

Then you need to take Michigan off your list entirely, and add several in-state public schools as financial safeties. Then you need to look for private schools that offer to meet full financial need for admitted students.

The maximum amount that you can borrow for college is only $5,500 per year as a freshman, rising to $7,500 as a junior and senior. Any borrowing beyond that is both unwise and impossible without parental cosigners.

Have you run an EFC estimator to check your eligibility for financial aid?

Any suggestions?

uni of Illinois at urbana
Northeastern (in Illinois)
Loyola

No, how do i do that?

You are a strong student, and you should qualify academically for most schools. I’d suggest researching every type of scholarship - general and specific - that you can, and start applying like mad. You should also consider private colleges with generous endowments, especially ones that offer special honors programs. Some less prestigious schools have terrific honors programs for strong students, and they offer very generous aid packages. Similarly, I imagine that U.Illinois has superb programs available; here in NJ, Rutgers even has special housing available for its Honors College. They university might not be as prestigious as the most competitive schools, but the honors program might offer a comparable education.
