By the way, my school only offers six AP classes. By the time I will have graduated, I will have taken three to four of those AP classes.

Maybe, you’re kind of average so the best I can say is you have a good chance of getting in but you also have a good chance of getting rejected. It may help you to take all the APs your school offers and get that ACT score up. Also make sure you get straight As this semester. If you do all of that, your chances of getting in are better. OOS is going to be tougher this year because of the commonapp switch so definitely write great essays and get great recs. Good luck!

Not that good of a shot. Michigan may give you little break because of your small HS but I don’t see you getting in. Especially with everything getting toughet

Sign up for more APs if you can handle them. I know many in State denials last year with better stats, but you never know, so keep at it and get your application in early! Good luck!

The only other AP I can throw in is AP Chem. The other one is AP Calculus, but I am going to be taking Algebra 2 my senior year (maybe honors. At least that’s the best math class I can take).

You should have self-studied some of the APs your school doesn’t offer; I don’t see a point now, because AP scores won’t come in until July of next year. Your GPA and ACT are both pretty good judging by in-state standards, but poor by out-of-state standards. I’m sorry but your chances of gaining admission are slim at best.

Since UMich is getting progressively more selective, I’d say it’s unlikely, but still worth a shot. It could go either way.

Your definetely in range. With those stats instate you’d be a lock. I’d try to raise that ACT up to a 32 especially since your OOS.

With your chosen major, I think that the fact that you’re only in Alg 2 is going to hurt. I agree you should try to raise your ACT and try to brainstorm for your unique “hook”–something about you or that you did that was really out of the ordinary or shows tremendous character/maturity/intelligence.

Are people serious? It’s not Harvard. Yeah, you’ll get in. Act 30? Definitely. I only had a 31 and my GPA. 3.7. I even know people who had a GPA of 2.7 and 23s on ACT. Michigan is a good school but definitely NOT hard to get into. Smh.

“I even know people who had a GPA of 2.7 and 23s on ACT”

Please tell us about these people…

“I only had a 31 and my GPA. 3.7.”

That is a fine score and GPA for an instater. The OP is an out of stater, and it is considerably harder to gain admission as such.
No one ever stated Michigan was Harvard. It’s just not a shoe in for most candidates from out of state, particularly if they are not URMs.

If not getting any meaningful financial aid would cause your decision to be not to go here, I wouldn’t bother applying. Without aid your chances are pretty good, but you’re still pretty ordinary and Michigan’s not going to be fighting to get you.

“Please tells us about these people”

For one I have a friend who only had a 3.5 and a 23 on ACT and she’s in the Residential College.
Another with a 3.8 and a 24 on ACT who’s in the College of Engineering.
So…
While at the Convocation, one or two mentioned only having a 2.7 GPA.
So Umich doesn’t seem all that hard to gain admission into but whatever.
I don’t really care.
