I'd like to know what you think my college profile qualifies me for.
I'm a senior, ready to apply!
PSAT: 215, National Merit Commended (missed the OR Semifinalist cutoff by 1 POINT ARGH)
SAT I Composite (SUPERSCORE from 2 takes, 2020 highest sitting): 2060 (760 CR, 680 Writing, 620 Math)
Taking October subjects (Math I and Lit).
GPA: 3.59 (UW) - my school does not weight grades, but we're a silver medal school (top 3%) My academic GPA is higher than this - I got B's in health and freshman humanities.
2nd quintile.
AP's: LIT: 5
ENVIRONMENTAL: 4
GOV: 5
EC's: Debate: I have been debating for 2 years, am very successful, have placed at State 2x and went to NFL Nationals this summer. I'm captain this year. We're reigning State champs.
Fencing: I no longer fence but qualified to the 2009 Junior Olympics in women's sabre. I fenced for 6 years.
This summer I rebuilt trails for 5 weeks with the Northwest Youth Corps.
I will graduate with 150+ hours of community service.
I also do slam poetry and am very successful there, as well.
I've also completed NaNoWriMo with 50,000+ words.
Schools I'm serious about: (top 3) George Washington U (DC), American U (DC), Rice U (TX, I have legacy here, my dad went to undergrad)
Possibilities (I'd like to add to this category): Northeastern, Boston U, Lewis And Clark, Stanford (just for kicks)
Additionally I only have $5,000-7,000/yr for college and need scholarships. Ethnically I'm a quarter Pakistani, a quarter Austrian (Jewish lineage), and half generic "white". I also have awesome letters of recommendations from my AP Lit teacher (PhD, former college professor), my AP Gov teacher (former lawyer), and my debate coach. I want to major in International Relations with a Pre-Law minor if possible. I also plan on going to graduate school for a JD.
I'm incredibly anxious and would love some input! Thanks (:

You have a great chance and are an interesting and worthy candidate. SAT is good, but it could be better. GPA is great too. Overall, stats are great. ECs are somewhat unique and you seem to really be putting effort in them.
George W: Match/low reach
American U: Match
Rice U: Match

Good luck!! :D

Hangingonstars- why would you consider GW to be more of a reach than RIce? Rice is statistically much, much more selective.

GW- Match
American- Match
Rice- Reach
Northeastern- Match
BU- Match
Stanford- High reach

You’ve got a great shot at your first choice!

Bump!
Also, should I apply to American early decision?
I can’t apply to GW early (I wanted to) because their ED does not have an opt-out for lack of financial aid.

Few schools actually publish the financial aid opt-out clause, but if a school accepts the Common Application (GW does) this rule applies:
https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/ED_Agreement.pdf

What would they do if they could somehow compel attendance without providing enough financial aid? Expel the student when the bill couldn’t be paid? There’s a reason we never hear of that happening. ;)

If you would really LIKE to apply to GW at ED time, just call their financial aid office and ask them what happens if enough aid is not offered to support attendance.
