sophmore gpa:3.1/3.5
junior gpa: 3.8/3.8
uc gpa: 3.55 (upward trend?)
sat 1920, superscore 1990 (1340/1600)
taking sat2s this nov and december, expecting over 700 on math2 and around 500-600 on bio
5 in ap calc, taking ap physics and ap govt right now
over 100 hours of volunteer work at buddhist temple and around 60-70 at children center

i’d call it a reach. if you got your junior gpa up to like 4.3 you’d have a good shot, but with only a 3.8 it is pretty unlikely, especially in engineering.

Compare with this year’s accepted freshmen class:

The GPA you should use to compare is the UC/CSU GPA.

Is CE Civil Engineering?
If so, your chances arent good (sorry). 3.55 is quite a bit lower than the engineering average of 3.94. What is your Math+Reading score on the SAT?, because writing is not factored in to whether you get in or not.
Extracurriculars are not really counted for much at SLO so that wont really help you.

Best of luck! Im applying to SLO as well =) .

engineering is a highly competitive major at cal poly. that said, i think you’re just about perfectly average for engineering. basically, you could get denied, and you could get accepted. if you applied ED i say you have a strong chance. if you applied RD i wouldn’t count on it, but its very possible because you’re directly in the middle.

@mkonjibhu
how did you get that he is “just about perfectly average for engineering” ???
look at my link to the admission stats from this years freshman class. [Prospective Students - Admissions - Cal Poly](<a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions)

The average engineering GPA is 3.94 and he has a 3.55, which makes it basically a high reach.
