Haiti thing: Since the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, I have been organizing benefit concerts for Haitian relief(duh). All of the proceeds have gone to a local organization with Vassar College called the Vassar Haiti Project. The money I donated is going to help rebuild the only music school in Haiti, Holy Trinity Music School in Port-au-Prince. I'm currently featured as a community member of the VHP, and in September of last year, I was honored by Vassar College and presented a check with the leader of the VHP to an executive member of Holy Trinity when a boys choir from the school came to do a concert at Vassar.

Any opinions?

SATs look good, not sure how Wesleyan will look at grade-less schools…ECs look good too. It may come down to your common-app essay. Maybe 65% chance…

id say you have a fairly good chance. however cannot guarantee anything. hope you make it. best of luck.

Thanks so much guys! Any other opinions?

I know for a fact the application essay is very important for Wesleyan. i cant judge because I dont know how good your essay is.

Yeah, that makes sense. I don’t think my essay is a work of literary art. I think it was pretty solid and relatively well written, but again, not nearly perfect. But then again, is writing or anything else for that matter ever perfect?

My common app essay was surrounding a development of my passions from a young age, a love of music, then a desire to understand why people enjoy music which evolved into a neuroscience/cognitive science major. It’s meant to bounce between a narrative and my thoughts. From what I can see, it shows my passions and the drive and steps I take and plan to take to fully realize my passions.

My EC common app piece was about how I’ve been working for a newspaper for awhile and it was a reminiscence of one particular time where I saw a band of homeless musicians play and the effect it had on my perception of music. Maybe this helps?

just curious, but did you apply for EDI? (I hope you are not) ^^

I didn’t, I’m applying ED2 if I don’t get into my ED1 school haha. Good luck on your application!
