Could you guys chance me for University of Michigan[Ann Arbor] only? I would go in as an LSA freshman.
I'm a North Carolinian female with legacy times 3. One legacy member is a strong donator, and my father is from Ann Arbor.
Weighted/Unweighted GPA: 3.9/4.8
SAT Unsuperscored/Superscore: 1880/2030
Honors: AP Scholar of Distinction, All County Band, Triad BioSummer, North Carolina Scholar, Junior Marshal, Solo and Ensemble Superior Performance Rating x 2, National Honors Society, Science Honors Society, Music Honors Society
Extracurriculars: Marching Band, orchestra, flute lessons, leader of woodwind quintet, Co-Captain of Academic Competition for English, lead & small speaking roles in musicals[3], French Club, Math/Science Tutor, Girlscouts Co-Leader, Social Studies Academic Competition ...
... I'm sure there are more but I can't think straight. I think my concentration of skill is music/science, as indicated in my essays.
Teacher/Counselor Recommendation: Strong.
Essays: "Passionate and Risk-Taking" as according to the University of Michigan rubric.
Current senior schedule: 6 APs and one honors course. [band.] Should have straight A's for the semester
Rank: updates in the semester mark - should be within top 10. I am currently 14/475 without the update.
Major? Biology/Music Theory and Composition/Psychology.
Other?: School of honors, best testscores of all high-schools in the area on national tests. Competitive.

Great chance of getting in unless you are applying to Ross. But if you aren’t, your chances are impressive.

Awesome, thanks. :)I am not applying to Ross, just LSA. XD I’m concerned about my SAT score. Everything else is solid.

Bummmmppppppuhhhhhhhh

Bump again. I want a couple of people’s opinions, really. Michigan is my top choice.
I’d be willing to “chance” anyone else who gave me an honest opinion.

You’re fine. Your grades are strong, your SAT is in the interquartile range, your extracurriculars are decent and varied, and you’re a legacy. I wouldn’t worry about it, especially just for LSA. If you wouldn’t mind hitting up my past threads and chancing the Michigan one, that’d be fantastic!

Thank you for your chance! I think my SAT is low, so I was kind of worried. I’ll go find your thread and chance you, as promised. ^^

Read first couple of lines, you’re a shoe in

Well, no one is a “Shoe-in”, but I glad you think I have a good shot. I love the atmosphere of Ann Arbor.

I mentioned some small local stores within Ann Arbor in one of my essays. Will that be seen as positive? I’ve kind of been using the rubric on the U-M website to evaluate my essays.

Everything looks good, I think the SAT won’t be a problem!

Good. I’m visiting U-M at the end of the month. So hopefully that’ll be good. :D

Hmn. You guys do realize that my 1880/2030, I mean that 1880 is the unsuperscored score and 2030 is superscored? Michigan technically doesn’t super score but “takes all scores into account”. That’s why I’m worried about my 1880. From the counselor from my area, she suggested that taking the highest composite score was merely for record purposes, and they would take notice in the large variety in my scores. Seriously, my reading score is a 540-650 with a downward trend, and my writing score is a 540-720 with an upward trend. The entire process was very irritating especially since we purchased a 100 dollar online tutoring system. >>;

IS - good chance

OOS- Decent chance. Your SAT is quite low, but it is just above the 25th percentile. That said, it is much tougher for OOS students.

Yeah, I’m a legacy OOS. >> (North Carolina).

You’ve got a pretty good chance. Although your out of state and your SAT score is a little low, your gpa, legacy and extracurriculars should easily make up for it.

Cool. :3 Oh, by the way, a couple more things to increase the odds …
I’m visiting UMich for a tour and to shadow a music class at the end of the month.
I also have an interesting family background. Mom and step-dad are both popular jazz musicians, and my dad’s an exotic veternarian. I’m listed by the common app as being white and middle eastern since my grandfather attended UMich from Turkey [and he was the valedictorian for his class!]

Write good essays and you are in.

I’m doin’ it! >:3 I’m doing everything in my power to get accepted. Oh, on a random note, I’m taking to SATII’s at the end of the month. Should I send those to UMich if they’re good?

“I’m taking to SATII’s at the end of the month. Should I send those to UMich if they’re good?”

Yes. Even if they’re not good, the University of Michigan will only consider them in light of how they might benefit your review.
